For one of the first times in recent memory, I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. I was having nightmares. Sigh.

Quick! Someone fluffle me so I can feel better and maybe get back to sleep! :)

Consider yourself lucky. All I get are reruns of 'Nam. Sigh.

It's wierd. I don't usually have nightmares, but some significant event, like an anniversary of something in the military, or ( as this time ) an approaching important ( to me ) birthday, will trigger them. :(

Hmm..I'm willing to bet you've already done this, but have you considered a therapist or psychologist? If it's been disrupting your sleep pattern, or other important part of your life, for a prolonged period of time (even if only on certain times), then mayhaps you should. I hope you don't think me being too forward in my suggestion.

No, but it's a thought I've had from time to time. As I mentioned, they're very intermittent and only seem to come when there's an anniversary date of something to do with Vietnam, or an important birthday or something. I turn 62 tomorrow, so I'm betting that's what's causing the current round of horrificness. :)

Well..let me be the first to say happy birthday! I never really had a clue about your age (and I've read your posts for a while) until a few days ago..whenever you last mentioned your age. You've always come across as rather youthful, so don't you dare think you're getting old. *Shakes fist*

Now, as to the psych, I know you may not take to heart the advice you receive over the 'net, but I would suggest that you at least try one session with one, and see how you feel. If it happens on important events, it means that those people/events are somehow representative of your past, and a way of your subconcious trying to bring to light something that it "feels", so to speak, that you need to deal with.

Don't worry! I highly prize my youthful attitude ... drives my grown children crazy! Heh! :D

I've considered the psych angle, but it just doesn't seem that frequent or that important to me. Besides, at my age it's easy to think that all problems are going to be moot in a few years anyway. ;)

And thanks for the fluffle and the suggestions! :fluffle:

*laughs*Good.

As to psych, then that means it wouldn't be as helpful, since you wouldn't be totally committed to it. From what you've said, it's a bit pointless, as the problem is infrequent and unimportant, to you. In this case, I suggest that you talk with a good friend when you need it, and contemplate Jello as needed. Seriously, just think about it. It has no real flavour, comes in different colours and it wiggles. I'm sure there's a Zen lesson there, somewhere. I've a feeling you're being morbid just to spite the lot of us. *grins*

If you're referring to my suggestion, you're quite welcome.

Ha! You ain't seed nuffin! Back in MY day, the only way most folks could cast an aspersion any further than their shoelaces was to go find the mule out in the back forty, have him haul a few timbers to the hayfield, use a wood-splitter and wedges to make some boards, whittle a few pegs to hold 'em together, gather all your family and neighbors to spend days constructing a catapault, load an aspersion into the cradle, and hurl dat fukkah! :D
