SciFi v. Fantasy v. Modernistic Fantasy! You Decide.

In terms of television and movies, which of those three genres do you prefer?

Quick examples/definitions:

Science Fiction - generally set in the future or in an alternate universe (of Earth or otherwise), science fiction generally involves heavy use of advanced technology and actors pretending to know science.
Examples: Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate. (The Star thing is kinda a trend).

Fantasy - the polar opposite, in a strange way. Set either in Earth's past or an alternate universe, it generally involves swords, axes, magic, and really huge men saving petite women.
Examples: Lord of the Rings, Conan the Barbarian, Kull the Conqueror. (The title style is also kinda a thing).

Modernistic Fantasy - a blend of the above two. Always set in modern Earth, it involves mystical and spiritual forces operating, generally (though not always) without the knowledge of most of humanity. Also generally throws in advanced technology for kicks and cooler special effects.
Examples: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Blade, Underworld. (3/4 have one word titles! Ok, so not quite the same as the above 2. But still).

I simply LOVE the idea of Magic Technology, so Modernistic Fantasy it is.

I've never been too much of a fan of modernistic fantasy, as you put it... but I like it when it takes a slight reverse, and you get steampunk. That is, Thief, for example, which has definite fantasy leanings, but also the Mechanists, who use robots, whilst the game is set in a late medieval society. I'm sure that isn't the precise name for it. But hey-o.

Out of Fantasy and Sci-fi, I think I prefer them both equally. Though I'll always love Star Wars, the mix of the two.

It's interesting that fantasy has gotten no votes as of yet.

Modernistic fantasy for me. I'm not crazy about SciFi, and just plain fantasy doesn't thrill me (though I do like it better). Modernistic fantasy is probably what I read most of the time.
