Authenticity of winning stuff over the internet?

Hey guys, I was visiting another website, and I got this pop-up ad. Saying that I won 2.1k USD.

Have any of you guys ever gotten this before. And how real is it? Because I've gotten a few of them, like I even won and Audi TT online before. But because it's only for US, I can't claim the reward.

This time, it's international. How authentic is it? Should I bother giving a call? Or is it just another advertising scam. After I call them, their going to bombard me with their junk?

Are you joking? I hope so. Do not ever call them back. Those are as real as the Nigerian letters.

Yep. Treat all online pop-up advertising as scams. They pretty much all are. Or ring them up, give them no further information, and demand they send you the prize you just won. If they agree to send it, hang up, if they keep pressing for more information, you can start to get abusive. It wastes an afternoon.

Very few of those are legit. Most are simply an attempt to gather email addresses to sell. Good rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

Btw, I went to their website.. nothing came up. I guesss it's another one of those damn hoaxes.

Sigh If all these we're true. By now, I would have gotten an Audi TT, a house in Canada, and probably few thousand dollars richer :p

I can't remember which site it was, but I've been their millionth visitor about fifteen times now. I'm quite impressed with that.

hehehe, that's like that "get 30 people to sign up to us, and you get a free iPod!"

now, i already have the supreme Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 60Gb, so I thought "well, if this is legit, i can always ebay it once it arrives" ..so i checked it out..

The terms and conditions are so backward that it's hilarious...one stated "the main prize may change at any time" , and another: "completing the desired task may not result in being awarded the prize"

So..

Not only could it CHANGE to be a biro pen, but they are also loop-holed into not giving you that pen....

I think you meant to say: Good rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Not isn't. What you said was a double negative, which implied that it wasn't too good to be true. i.e. It was bona fide.

No need to thank me.
