Treasonous? Oh my. That would be a most amusing turn of events if this administration was brought down by "America First" groups over Immigration policies.

I'll never understand immigration policy as well as I should, I suppose. I can't understand how we manage to keep our borders so utterly unprotected in the middle of a massive public paranoia attack. It just boggles the mind.

You know what's funny?
The same President who is screaming about a social security crises is the same President who is giving billions of dollars in social security checks to illegal immigrants who have no right to them.

Every freaking president has sold our country out since FDR. The border issue and the whole Federal Reserve system are my biggest complaints.

I would love to see every living president in chains answering questions about why they care so little for our security.

Agreed a country has its rights to determin its stance on who is admited as a legal resident … does not soften my view of the websight though

It is funny. I guess its hard to say 'no' to suffering induviduals, even if they are illegally here.

Problem is, the government has a duty to say no, and deport them! This is a subject where I think the more protectionist groups are correct. Our borders are there for a reason, enforce the borders. If we need workers, we can later create a guest worker program, or one that uses legal immigrants.

The borders are funny, do they represent what Americans actually think? If so, then well, it's a good display of the lack of education.

Home of brave... rofl, yeah right...

'Sides... I consider "chinks" offensive. Same goes for "japs" and the rest on that list. The only funny thing in it is that some Americans may really see their borders like this.

Actually most people living in the boarder region and whom know more about the situation are actually FOR the Minute Men project. I'm hispanic and live in South Texas. We no longer know what is crossing and gang activity from south America is starting to take root in these parts. Also, you would be shocked to know what exactly crosses illegally outside of immigrants whom are economic refugees.

I blame Mexico the most for having such a pathetic government that should be overthrown. But alas, unless the US is going to invade and remove that government and call the territory of Mexico the US and take the responsibilty to govern that land, its pointless to continue to have an open boarder. Especially if you even are attempting to "fight a war on terror" when terrorists can have anything crossed over for the right price.

Furthermore, these guys are breaking the laws because they are ILLEGAL immigrants. Nobody is criticizing legal immigrants. In fact I think a lot of minute men are supported by legal aliens who went through the trouble of attaining citizenship legally.

Illegal immigrants also really have NO loyalties to the US republic. Their main belief is they will cross back over later. However they end up having kids that end up being Americanized and refuse to want to go back.

A lot of money goes over to the other side of the boarder to IA's families and is never seen from again..

and to tell you the truth.. the list goes on. Its time we got behind the Minutemen. Yes, there ARE some damned idiots southern rednecks, but they do NOT constitute the rest of the volenteers. The volenteers are addressing a problem the government has REFUSED to address.

Look at it this way... because we have refused to secure the boarder.. we now have to worry about this:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ttpcworld/20050519/tc_techtues_pcworld/120893&cid=1740&ncid=1729

Federal ID cards. Now the situation has even spilled over to the fact the government wants ID cards on all of us.

To not support closing the boarder.. I'm afraid to say that you are NOT patriotic. Those who support it MOSTLY know the boarder situation more than those who don't care and have not seen the effects illegal crossings have.

As I said before, that is because you probably are completely ignorant to the bad side effects. Your only real exposure to it is the media which really doesn't know crap at the national level to begin with. You don't hear about ANYTHING bad happening most of the time. We at the boarder however are seeing things like the malatrucha gange and other problems with boarder violence.

They're ILLEGAL. Don't you GET IT? They're BREAKING THE LAW.

They are CRIMINALS.

By the way, where are you guys to protect us from all the jaywalkers? It's a CRIME to cross the street ILLEGALLY, and I'm sick of seeing all the ILLEGALS too impatient to find a cross-walk... why can't they walk across the street like normal, law-abiding citizens do? They are a threat to our country, and anyone who doesn't make citizens arrests of jaywalkers are committing nothing less than TREASON!!!!!!!

So according to your brilliant deductions anyone who isn't "worked up" over the border must be "completely ignorant?" And pawns of the media, too.

Frankly, for a guy who can't even spell the word "border" I'm rather skeptical about how knowledgable you are on the subject, especially when you're so quick to denounce others as being less so than yourself.

Sorry, I do apologize for the mispellings. It is very late here, I'm about to crash, and am in a hurry to get off the net. Please don't dismiss the reality of the situation however. When you live in the boarder and see the real problems in the news, you get a MUCH different perspective.

Its 80% violent gangs, terrorists, drug lords, and human trafficking that is crossing the border illegally these days. For the sake of our national security and for the sake of the safety of our own citizens and the citizens of other nations visiting our nation, the southern border must be shut down.

This has nothing to do with race. Even the Mexican government is finally starting to attempt to do something about the problem but corrupt officials in their own government are trying to block them. I fear the only recourse we will have IS to invade Mexico and just take over. Its the only way to route out the violent gangs, drug lords, and human traffickers and terrorists.
This is not about race. That site not withstanding.

The ones who come over and obey our laws and learn our language and respect our culture are not the problem. The problem is the criminals who cross over with them. And to go after the criminals we have to go after all illegals, even those who have nothing to do with the criminals.

those willing to come here and obey our laws are welcome to come, those who come to cause problems or harm our nation and its people are not welcome. Its because of the latter that the border must be closed.

We put the border there for a reason, its to determine where our government's influence ends and another begins. To be blunt, our borders are so weakly and pathetically defended that it doesn't take a lot to get past them. I'm all for people entering this country, but do it LEGALLY.

The comment isn't designed to be racist. It's hardly racist. It could be Americans flooding into Mexico for all I care. What I mean is the average American will not pick fruits in California for that kind of wage. But to Mexicans, that job earns more than what they earn in Mexico. And the fruits need to be picked. It's just reality.

there you go again. assuming that Mexicans can't make good money in their own nation. that's a perfect example of ethnocentrism. You do know that Mexico's economy has come a long way since the 70's right? some of the mexicans who come here and work the fields end up making less than they would back home. But they come because they want the freedom. Freedom that they don't have in Mexico. And to get that freedom they are willing to work for lower wages so they can bring their families across too, in the hopes that they can get higher paying jobs than they currently have or than they can get in Mexico. But many gets stuck doing farm work because of their illegal status. If they would go through the legalization process, they would get higher paying jobs.
also they would be protected from victimization. Over 90% of immigrants who are here illegally are often victims of criminal elements.

The Mexicans are indeed unable to get rich themselves - whose fault? They have come a far way since 1970s, but so have the US. Also, while SOME sectors of the Mexican economy has benefitted, much of the population still lives in poverty. It's perfectly normal, even expected, that labour will flow from Mexico to the US. It's simple economics. Nothing to do with racism.
Dragons Bay
25-05-2005, 10:18
For some facts:

40% of Mexico's population still lives under the poverty line.

The Gini Index, which shows income inequality, is 53.1 - very high.

Unemployment is 3.2% but underemployment is 25%.

Their public debt (money owed by the government) comprises of 23.5% of the GDP - a quarter of the total market value of all the final goods and services produced by the Mexican economy

If I was a Mexican living in the worse conditions, I'd be wanting to go to America. It isn't racist - it's economics. The same thing is happening in France and Italy.
