Will Batman Begins be better than the Burton films?
I cought the 10 minute preview when it aired, and I must say this: Holy crap, I can't WAIT to see it! I think it looks 4,000 times better than the Burton films and that's saying A LOT because I loved those movies. What do you think?

"Does it come in black?"
It was this moment that made me realise we're in for something special.

The preview for the new Batman film confused me because the first part of the trailer looks like it is set centuries ago, and then later on you see cars and halogen lights. *confusion*

Well, I'm a big fan of the FIRST Batman movie... since Burton and his team actually seemed to take SOME interest in the backstory that has long existed for the Dark Knight... and I think they got the atmosphere of Gatham pretty accurate in the first film.
Of course, once you get to the third and fourth installments.... well...
The only REDEEMING feature of the third film, was Jim Carrey (who I normally detest) as the Riddler... and the Fourth film was pretty much a write-off, in my book.
So - if they maintain the Gothic sensibilities of the Caped Crusader, and manage to avoid too much of the Adam West camp... I think Batman Begins has great promise.
I can easily see it being superior to the COLLECTION of four films already made, although whether it will be superior to the first film (alone)... well, we'll have to wait and see.
Three reasons why I won't even bother with this film.
1. Aside from Liam Neelson (sp?), I have a deep loathing of all the actors/actresses I know to be in this film.
2. In terms of atmosphere (the most important part of a Batman movie...besides the villians), this movie will be leaps and bounds ahead of Schumacher's disasters...but still nowhere near what Burton did.
3. I HATE the new "Batmobile"...it looks like a drunk Humvee fucked a coked-up Lambroghini...and thus was born this travesty.
Awful...just plain awful. Give me the Batmobile from Burton's first effort any day.

The only thing I know about this movie is what the batmobile looks like.
A hot pink edsel with a purple metallic stripe and a rotting leg covered in chunky custard mounted on the bonnet would make a better looking batmobile.

You hate Christian Bale?
I can't even understand how that could be?

First-I'm a nut, I know, but I like to judge films after I've seen them...call me crazy...
Second-This will be a seperate movie. Burton chose to take Batman out of time, and use an art design to create a different, almost animated world-as Burton is prone to doing. He was able to stand as one of the key definers of the image of Batman.
This new film seems like an entirely different take, borrowing more of the grit from the Frank Miller Dark Knight than the cobwebed art deco of Burton. (The Tumbler/Batmobile looks like the tank batmobile from Dark Knight Returns). Looking at the cast listing on imdb.com, they have included characters like Joe Chill, the criminal responsable for killing Bruce's parents. It seems like they are going to be a lot more psychological/philosophical about the franchise rather than Burton's stylistic take that didn't really spend much time examining what goes into making a man dress like a bat. Stylised/psychological are two of the main 'takes' on Batman (split even further in the villians-the madmen reflect Batman back onto himself where the 'genius' plays on his 'detective' origins.)
In short, very different movies that you go into looking for very different things, making 'better' a subjective and useless thing to consider.
I am concerned about the three (four if you count Chill) villians. Especially since Ra's Al Ghul and The Scarecrow might require a lot of exposition that might be difficult if they are going to do a complete origins story. But, I like the look and I've always been a fan of the approach (though, truth be told I always want the deco and story approach to meet in the middle somewhere-the often got pretty close in the animated series...)

It really seems like they didn't learn **** this time around either. Despite the huge popularity of the 5 minute film on the net (Batman vs Aliens vs Predator) that made Batman fans go rabid with enthusiasm. They still opted to screw it up and throw a "love intrest" in the damned gears screwing up the whole concept of Batman being the ultimite badass.
