A bit of a rant

When I think of the hypocrisy I live in it just depresses me to no end. How could we have gone to war in Iraq and later say we are liberating a people from a tyrannical rule when our own president has deep ties to the leader of a country who allows things such as this: http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/05/052305saudi.htm. I don’t know wether to laugh or cry...laugh at how blind people are or cry.......

Oh, really?

Tell that to a country that went to Civil War over equal rights for African Americans. African Americans earned their equal rights, I'd say that'd doing something about an issue.

A broader view of US history will give you a better sense of the why in so far as their is one. It's why our foreign policy tends towards the Schitzophrenic. But at some point, it probably helps if you come to terms with the idea, of whether realizing your idea of a more perfect future is worth the life of an innocent person. Where do you draw your line between selfish and selfless. I myself consider such problems all but unsolvable, and advocate a principle of economic reciprocal morality. "Do unto others as they would do unto you, with a maximum return on a minimum of invested resources."

Hypocrasy is usually a result of ignorance, and as we know, our country is rampant with that.

For the record, the United States of America did NOT go to war to win equal rights for the slaves it was to preserve the union. Ask honest Abe.

And take a look at the situation of the American negro for the hundred or so years afterwards - he may have gained some 'rights' but he was certainly not EQUAL. Ask Rosa Parks, Malcolm X., Dr.Martin Luther King.

If you're referring to America, it was never about slave rights. It was about money/industrialization of the south and to keep the Union together. But I won't go further into that, since I don't want to threadjack.

Now, if you don't like the way the world works, might I suggest sending letters off to politicians and various people in power, to raise awarness of things you feel are problems in the world, and perhaps how you'd feel they should be rectified? It may not seem like much, or even ineffective, but at least you are doing something.

I hate the hypocrisy of the world, but I don't let it depress me.
