Favorite theme/amusement park.

What is your favorite theme or amusement park that you have been to, and why?

Also, what one that you haven't been to, do you want to visit the most?

My favorite of the ones I've been to is Paramount's Carowinds. Any park that can take a sucky non-themed prototype coaster from another park and turn it into something as awesome as BORG Assimilator is awesome. Tied with that is my home park of Paramount's Kings Dominion. Even though PKD has mainly short prototype coasters, they have Volcano, which even though short, is awesome. Also they have the only remaining Mack bobsled coaster in the USA... Very unique.

Of the ones I haven't been to, it's a tie between Six Flags Magic Mountain and Cedar Point. Both have so many awesome coasters I NEED to get on.

I've only been to Fantasia Land in Germany and Alton Towers in England, I have fonder memories of Germany but I think maybe that Towers is a better park. Incedentally I'm going to Alton Towers for a few days this summer:

As a member of ace, I'll say I know more about this than anyone else here does.

Kennywood, best place you can go imo, and the borg assimlator isnt a prototype coaster.

Disney World in Orlando is by far the best, also I think Six Flags Over Texas is the best of all the Six flags parks ( Who can beat the good old Texas Giant coaster?) the original is aways the best.

I've been wanting to go there. Looks a lot better than Astro World, which I've been to three times. It sucks.

Borg Assimilator was Stealth at Paramount's Great America, and it was the first Flying Coaster from Vakoma, correct?

As for the best park, I think it depends on what you are looking for. Kennywood has an old time feel, but I really like themeing. Oh, and I'm not a member of ACE, but only because I can't afford dues.

Six Flags Great Adventure. I have great memories of riding the Scream Machine, the Batman coaster, and Rolling Thunder with my friends, all of us tripping on acid. There's nothing like rollercoasters when you're on enough acid to trip out an elephant.

I don't remember Nitro. Is it one of the newer ones? I haven't done acid in a while.

I just checked the website and its says it opened in 2001. Its 230 feet high and hits 80 mph. It scared the shit out of me as when you get to the top, its like you're sitting on a chair-not a big restrained capsule.

The Kingda Ka is just opened a week or two ago. Its 456 feet tall and hits 128 mph. My kids are dying to ride it and I'm not anymore.

Heheh Disney in Orlando, Florida is cool. Although I live in the UK, I've had the best times at Alton Towers/Thrope Park because I can just go down there with a load of friends and have a great time!

I haven't tripped since 1997, so I haven't ridden Nitro on acid. I'd almost consider dropping a dose again for Kingda Ka.

You guys are all making me jealous, the only exposure I've had to the world's best theme parks is through playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 2... and that's not quite the same thing...

Six Flags - Magic Mountain

Best roller coaster park in the world. It's tiring to walk around, though, too hilly.

I think there was one before that, let me check back on that. * 10 minutes pass by *. Ahhh, I didnt know that, it WAS the orginal protoype, I was thinking Carowinds for a second * slams head on wall *.

Kennywood is good, the Thunderbolt is possibly the best coaster ever imo.
But yeah, I LOVE that old time feel to kennywood. It's the best thing you can get when you go to a place like that.

I'm going to disagree with you, Cedar Point, not only has better coasters, imo. But it much cleaner, and the employee's seem nicer.

Heh, I've been looking at pics of Kennywood. I had no idea it was right by the U.S. Steel Duquesne Works!

Indeed it is, though I find it highly amusing. The park has been around longer, and outlasted almost all of the heavy industry that orginally brought people to pittsbugh.

If you can go to kennywood, GO, it's so choice.

Well, being less than a half hour away from it, I'm rather partial to Cedar Point... (for those keeping score, I live in Norwalk, Ohio, which is on U.S. 250 about 20-ish miles south of Sandusky)

Unfortunately, CP is also my favorite for lack of other experience...lol I've been to Hershey Park, and Busch Gardens, VA (both nice parks, although my visits to them were during family vacations years ago), and perhaps one or two other parks whose names escape my memory, but I don't travel often enough to visit many theme parks... Which is sad, because I'm addicted to roller coasters...lol

At least CP is sufficient to give me my seasonal adrenaline fix...

Opening at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2005 Kingda Ka will become the tallest, fastest roller coaster on the planet. This $25-million Intamin "rocket coaster" uses hydraulic motors to launch the trains along a horizontal section of track from zero to 128 mph in an impressive 3.5 seconds. The trains then begins a vertical ascent up a steel tower that peaks at 456 feet or 45 stories. Crossing over the apex the train enters a vertical descent plunging through a 270-degree spiral twist again reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph. One final surprise comes before the brake run, a 129-foot tall bunny hill, that promises to offer plenty of negative G's also known fondly as airtime.
