The article says it all:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005230552,00.html

" The three girls and their children share a council home in Derby with their twice-divorced mum Julie, 38. "

Their mother knows it all:

" Moaning mum Julie last night insisted their school was to blame for them getting pregnant. "

I particularly like the children's names:

" Jemma, now 14, gave birth to son T-Jay in February last year. Natasha had little Amani in November and Jade gave birth to daughter Lita in December. "

"T-Jay?" Is that a name? What sort of inbred would call their child that? It sounds as though this family need to be exterminated

It's a sad thing that so many girls in Britain are mothers before they are 14 even! Britain needs to improve its sex education.*

I also think that it would be a good idea to distribute free contraception to those teens who want it.

*Britain has Europe's highest teen pregnancy rate, with one of the continent's worst sex education programmes (or lack thereof). The Netherlands has Europe's lowest teen pregnancy rate, with one of the continent's best sex education programmes.

You cannot blame this entirely on the system. I think the mother has to shoulder some of the blame - she should have taken a stronger stance with her children.

School should teach kids how to write, read, and do maths. Sex education is too important to leave to a stranger. The mother is totally at fault here.

Whats sad is that I'm not even that shocked by this....

Yeah, but every fucking article I've seen today has been all 'Oh we agree with the mother'. It's just stupid - I am all for state control in certain areas, but carry on down that road and the next PM is going to be wiping my ass for me to make sure I don't screw up.

It's a sad thing that so many girls in Britain are mothers before they are 14 even! Britain needs to improve its sex education.

Somehow I don't see that as the problem in this particular case...

The mother complaining about the school:

Grandma Julie said teachers had failed her girls by not explaining about the perils of sex early enough.

Yeah... because there's no way these girls would have had any idea about the possible consequences of having sex... unless of course we read another few sentences down the article.

Just weeks later she discovered Jade, then aged 14, and 16-year-old Natasha were also expecting. Natasha had previously had two miscarriages and an abortion.

I'm not seeing this as a problem with the school. This is a problem with mummy not bringing up her daughters to think. At all.

I live in Alabama, and they hadn't covered sex education even when children were 12, 13 years old. I left at the end of my 1st year in middle school. Many of the girls had been dating and giving their boyfriends blow jobs long before that.

Yeah, but the girls in the article are from England, as am I, so I'd have thought they would have had a fair amount of sex ed.

Being 18, I recall the Sex Ed happening twice in my academic life and consisting of about two videos.

In short, it was crap.

But Sex Ed doesn't stop young people having sex - nothing stops young people having sex short of castrating all the boys. Parental responsibility comes into this somewhere, true, but even then, a mother can't follow her kids about all the time.

WHAT? They want benefits? These girls who are too young to work and have to now shoulder the burden of looking after babies want financial support from the government?

How dare they! They probably dont even feed their babies and instead spend the money on crime and immigration before beating up some elderly people. Damn working classes

that shouldn't need to be the case... this is evidence of a sick society & culture. what with chavs beating people up for fun & recording it on their phone as well, we're heading for the Clockwork Orange...

a bit of advice to foreigners: don't come to the UK. it sucks.

Jade, now 15, is about to take four GCSEs.
is four GCSE's really worth it?

My initial thought after reading the article was simple "wow".
This is definitely a family problem. When all three teenage girls get knocked up(and in such a short time frame even!) it's a pretty good indicator there are home issues. Where is/are their father/fathers? Those girls are in the same age range as my 2 younger sisters and I and that would never happen in our house.

I also find it interesting that the mother seems to bitch about how little the government gives them. If you ask me they are receiving plenty. They could be far worse off.

In my school, you get sex-ed in 7th-8th grade. They teach us about all kinds of sex (straight, gay, lesbian, oral, all of it...), teach us all the methods of contraceptions, tell us about the legal issue, but don't get involved in morals. The motto is basically that your sex life is your business, and if you do choose to have it, they're willing to confidentially give you things (like condoms) to make it safe. They'll never tell you what you're doing is wrong, even though if you're under 16 they will warn you of legal complications that may come with it. They will not, however, deny you anything you ask for. Yes, our whole school from the outside seems very sexually active, but if you go to it you know we all take things like sex seriously and safely, even if we start at a younger age than most.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this mother (or her kids) that couldn't be cured easily & quickly by a bullet between the eyes.

See me, see these sodding irresponsible tits who happily do the grunting & groaning bit, sprog the brat 9 months later then expect everyone but themselves to be responsible for turning it into a decent member of society? Right, now see me with my Uzi :mp5:

Going for a lie down in a darkened room now til I stop frothing at the mouth ... :headbang:

I had something similar, but I think half of it was down to the fact that I had a really good S.E. (social education) teacher

I've got an idea to prevent all of this teen pregnancy. If you have a baby you can't support you have to eat it. That's right, you have to kill, skin, gut, cook, and eat your own baby. That should encourage contraception.

Here's the best of the worst of the article:

Natasha is still with Amani’s dad, who she describes as a 38-year-old gambler. She added: “He comes to see her from time to time. But he’s Asian and still lives with his parents — they don’t know about me or Amani.

Just great...the dad is a gambler who is old enough to be her father, and still lives with his parents. What a winner. With parents like that, I fear for their daughter's future.

How does a 38 year old knock up a 14 year old and not do hard time? Are there no age of consent laws in England?

How fascinating. And what percentage of them would you say that was?

Would it be rivaling the 100% of the girls in that household?

Where do you suppose we should focus on as a causative factor? The one with the 100% correlation to the issue under consideration... or the one with the significantly lower correlation?

There are absolute hordes of 12 year old girls making their way through society without getting laid...
