Dont you think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion? How is being a kid have anything to do with maturity? As far as im concerned, the people who cant ignore the stupidity of others are the ones who are immature. I know it may seem like many Americans can have...less then satisfactory qualities about them...but we are all human, and the reason for a lot of American comments (that are bad) are because there are a lot of Americans playing this game. Just makes the situation worse when you cant ignore them.

Living in America, I've come to realize that many Americans act like ignorant immature children.

Prime Example: "Other countries hate America because they aren't free like us"...which is the equivalent of "They're just jealous!" and "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!"

Another example: America is the bully in the proverbial playground. We take it upon ourselves to change all the other countries in the world...which usually just makes things worse.

Yet another example: When an American's point is proven wrong, he/she usually dodges the subject, or just refuses to believe that he/she is wrong - the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and going "NANANNANAAA I CAN'T HEAR YOU! NANANANA"

Who else notices this kind of thing?

(By the way, feel free to give your own examples)

I'm not saying age has to do with anything. But the behaviors of many people resemble the behaviors of the average first-grader.

Well, I think all countries have people who can be assholes at times. But you have to ignore them, and try to let them be educated by society rather then by pushing them around and calling them school children. Insulting is not the way to open your opinion to those who disagree with you. Americans=school children is a little too broad...perhaps you could say assholes=school children? (and by assholes i do not mean americans, but idiotic people as a whole)

Maybe it's not the richest in real terms. As you believe you are the richest and most powerful, you will become more snobbish. You could be dirt poor and still be snobbish. And it is quite obvious that many Americans and many other people think that the United States is the richest and most powerful, and that alone makes many Americans snobbish, even though they may not be the richest/capita.

Please, take a break and step away from the keyboard. You obviously don't have a life. You need to meet some real Americans.

Until you've seen the rich and poor, traveled most of the United States, seen the extremes of rural and urban - lived with the panoply of ethnicity that is only in the United States - you can't really comment on it.

Your view of Americans is colored largely by news reports, network pundits, Michael Moore, Euroweenies, and people who want to find a sound bite of someone ignorant and then generalize outwards from there.

Go find out for yourself how remote Washington D.C. is from the rest of the country - no matter whether the Democrats or Republicans are in power.

Serve on the line with the infantry - find out why they fight and kill - it's not for the reasons you think, or for the reasons everyone else who was never there seems to think, or for the reasons someone who *was* there thinks who wants to score points with his political party.

Actually, the governments of a lot of countries do hate America because of the freedoms its citizens have.
First, Iran's favorite motto is "Death to America" mainly because of civil rights for women in America deemed immoral by fundamentalist Muslims.
It should be obvious that countries like North Korea dislike America because of the high level of civil rights compared to the people in their country.
Even many socialist countries dislike America because of our economic freedoms--that is, capitalism.

Reason out your arguments before you some up with some immature thread like this one.

I am a conservative. I do not think that America is beyond reproach, I do not think that we are without flaw, and I certainly do not think that all people who do not like Americans are jealous.

I think we, as American citizens are fed as much propaganda about other nations, as other nations are fed about us. I find it extremely sad that conservatives are not allowed to have a voice without being viewed as closed minded bigots before word one is said. Seems to me that I have been cut off at the knees the minute I say that I have right leaning politics, by the same people who preach tolerance and freedom of speech. Who would you say is being immature?

Yeah, well instead of telling him how he can be informed, why dont you take the initiative and inform him yourself of why he is wrong.

We could start with a fairly simple example.

A large percentage of the American public is Hispanic (a rather vague and partially insulting term, but there it is).

I live in a town that is mostly composed of recently arrived Salvadorans (green card and legal) - some of them have become US Citizens.

They all wanted to come here because it IS a better life for them.

Not only that, but the majority of the ones who were citizens voted for Bush (there was a big swing towards the Republicans by Hispanics in general in the last election).

I've seen how hard these people work - and seen how much they believe in the ideal of the "American dream".

No, they're not in the richest country in the world (per capita). But they have certainly arrived in a country where a man can arrive with 50 cents in his pocket and become much, much more. Where his daughter can grow up with opportunities she would NEVER have in the country her father came from.

I could go on. And he wants to call these people "school children".

I'm asking that he step outside and take a look around.

No, we're not the wisest people in the world. But we're not the school children he thinks we are.

Ever seen that commercial, "I'm an American" ?

Americans aren't the white frat boys that we've been stereotyped into by the rest of the world.

Well, the liberal mind has trouble focusing. If you put everything into one thread they couldn't stay on that thread long enough to use it. They would keep wondering over to other threads, randomly posting their wish for the death of Bush or something and people who had been talking about Star Trek captains would get a little annoyed when somebody posted "I hate Bush! It shouldn't be just liberals giving you hell. That was, more or less, the most incoherent and overgeneralizing statement I've read ever accusing someone else of being chaotic.

Why liberals focus any less well than conservatives is beyond me.

It's about as accurate as saying all conservatives are simpletons.
