Something long forgotten. . .

I was digging through some documents in the Library of Congress last Tuesday when I came upon a little known poem by T.S. Elliot.
I thought I would write it down here for you to judge.

The Love Song of Colonel Sanders

A penny for the poet guy

The last time I ate some chicken
the oil dribbled down my chin
and at that time my mind did ponder
the money I could win
from lawyer in court
from jury absent brain

between the bite and the chew
drips the fire
between the plate and my chin
drips the fire

this is how the trial ends
this is how the trial ends
not with a verdict but a plea bargain.

I was speechless, I mean how could this masterwork of modern American poetry be so long forgotten?
