Okay, which series do you like best? Why? Star Wars, Star Trek, or Stargate?

This includes Star Wars prequels and original series, Star Trek TV shows and movies, and Stargate TV shows and movies.

Though I'm angry because of some of the terrible decisions the producers of Stargate: SG-1 have made, I'd say it's my favorite of the three.

Me too. I love all Stargate stuff. Even the original movie. Star Trek was a close second.

I prefer Farscape and the Peacekeeper wars.

On the list, I prefer Star wars, particularly TESB, and the duel in the end of Return of the Jedi. Because with the music, and the sheer emotion running through it, it's one of the best duels I've ever seen.

Is that the one with the puppets?

Blatenly stargate is better. It has Colonel Jack O'neill. Who could be the best reluctant hero ever.

I have only seen a few episodes of Stargate, so I voted for Star Wars.

FARSCAPE

As much as I do enjoy Stargate, I will never be able to forgive it for making Sci-Fi abandon Farscape.

I have to say, then, that Farscape show is one freaky bizzaro world of weirdness. I wonder why I don't like it? :D

There's a reason why farscape wasn't in the pole... It wasn't very good. Well...OK... It was good for a while but then it went stupid with it's damn random episodes that explored Crichton's mind... Woo hoo... not. They were dull!!!

Farscape was utterly fantastic. You can't fault those ones because they had lots of Harvey in them. Not to mention 1812. Then the peacekeeper war movie... Farscape had one thing that most shows completely lack nowadays. VISION. It deserves to be on the poll for that reason alone. Then it got cancelled :( ....
Besides... the scene on the command carrier with Scorpius, the water flowing down the stairs, and sparks flying everywhere..... I still get the tingles.

For an answer to y'all's question, I didn't include Farscape for the same reason I didn't include Andromeda... I haven't seen enough episodes.

I wish I had included Battlestar Galactica though. For some reason it skipped my mind but I love the new show and the old one. Awesome shows.

There is already a Star Wars vs Star Trek thread being debated, with Stargate SG-1 being thrown in when needed.

I think this would constitute as a 'copycat thread'

Because the Sci-Fi channel is run by a bunch of monkeys. There's a reason why they ate their foot and bought the Peacekeeper Wars mini-series.

It would have if I had actually seen the thread, but at the time I posted this, that thread must have been on page two or something. It was moved up right after I posted this, and I didn't see it. If I had, I wouldn't have posted this. Don't accuse me of stuff before you know the facts please.

It's not my job to do that.

It's also not your job to scold him for making a "copycat thread", so why don't you kindly mind your own business? The moderators are fully capable of determining whether this is a "copycat thread".

I wasn't scolding anybody, actually - merely pointing something out. If it came across as scolding, I apologise - I'm taking a quick break from revising.

I couldn't vote for just one, because I like many of them in different ways... I mean, Star Wars has a special place in my heart but there isn't any kind of show quite like Star Trek or Stargate.

Star Trek started to go downhill with Voyager and it's now in the deepest pit sof hell, thanks to Enterprise.

Star Wars, well, I don't consider the prequels being really Star Wars, they're too average for that. Also Star Wars started to go downhill when that dumb NJO crap appeared.

Stargate owns them easily, all you need is a Jaffa joke.

Star Trek is the best out all three. I dont really have anything against ENT or VOY since both were good shows in their own right. I've alwaqys felt that DS9 is the best, though.
SG-1 and Atlantis arent all that bad, although Season 8 of SG-1 wasn't exactly top class.
Star Wars is pathetic (no offence to any SW fans, but being a dedicated Trekkie, I couldn't pass this one up).

And yes, Farscape was brilliant (I prefer puppets to CGI'd characters). Too bad they killed off D'argo.

Star Wars.

Because they other's are all too geeky.

Trekkies are morons with no life.

People who watch Stargate also have no life.

Trekkies are the worst, of course. I swear, If I see another person do that Spock thing with their fingers, I'm going to kill them...

Star Wars has an entertaining plot, it has good visuals(I swear, the costumes for Star Trek and Stargate are HORRIBLE!), it's not uber-geeky, and the combat pwnz x10.

And when you watch a Star Wars movies in theatres, you aren't surrounded by A. Pimply-faced geeks with no lives, B. Fat geeks with no lives wearing costumes that are way too small or , C. Ugly geeks with really bad breath.

Sure, there may be the occasional one or two geeks in any theatre, but Star Trek just scares me.

I have to say that Star gate is my favourite, but Star Wars is still good.
The force is cool but not realisitic.
Where as Stargate is more believeable to me. Only one episode that I have seen isn't really scienctific possible.
Plus I like the fact that all the old mythological gods are aliens.
Incidentally I have missed a moderate amount due to bad timeslotting here, but have they mentioned the Greek/Roman or Aztec/Mayan Gods yet?
I know that they have Egyptians (Go'uld), Norse (Asgard), Babylon/Sumerian (Weid Crystal Skull) and others races/offshoots of humans.
The Silver Turtle
23-05-2005, 16:17
Actually, it was the Aztecs/Mayans that was the Crystal Skull. The Babylonian one was from the episode Fire/Water where the fishman thing trapped Daniel and kept asking what happened to his mate ("What fate Omoroca?" though I've probably spelt it wrong).

I think the Greek/Roman ones are a mixture. I recall there being one Roman goddess who was a Tok'ra, but also that the Romans/Greeks learnt some of their technology from the Ancients, as well as Latin. Also, I think much of the gods were interchangeable and so most of them were still Goa'ulds...

Babylon 5. It actually had actors with some talent, a decent main plot (a 5 year arc even), as well as.. drum fill.. character development. Something StarGate utterly lacks, Startrek uses when the writers remember it, and starwars either doesn't - or over uses, depending on the scene.

Stargate seems like the least geeky of the three, although maybe thats because there aren't many events for SG-1 fans to run around in costumes...

Anyway it gets my vote because of the semi-plausibility and humour.
