The F.A. Cup - Who will win?

Ok, in 3 hours the F.A. Cup will be underway.

Simple question. Who will win and why?

Arsenal, just to annoy my mate who happens to support United. And to annoy all the southern United supporters who've never been anywhere near Manchester.

Seriously, though, I think it'll be close. I've not seen the squad lists for either team, but I know Henry isn't playing for Arsenal, so that's not going to help. Of course, this year isn't important - next year will be the big one. Wigan all the way! :D

Well Henry, Campbell and Ljunberg are out, apparently.

Go Wigan, total respect to Paul Jewell, he took my team to the Prem so good luck to you.

is got to be united, arsenal haven't beaten em in the last SEVEN attempts, and united have won the last Three encounters. both teams are going to get physical and UNited are a physically stronge team. i think ljungberg is back after his hip scare but i'm not sure.

Jewell has done us good. I'm not sure we'll stick around very long in the Prem, but it's still fantastic - and i'm a rugby fan mainly, I can't imagine what the true Latics fans must feel like!

Heh, I went to see Bradford Bulls against Wigan at the Grand Final a year and a half ago, that was great fun, I was sitting with my family, next to a family of latics fans who were supporting Wigan at Rugby. That was great caus there was no animosity between us at all. The normal banter as you expect, but still, Rugby fans are always much better than footie fans when it comes to getting along.

Did you see Man U beat Arsenal 4-2 At Highbury? United were so much better and that is why they should win.

 Palace, why did you get relegated?

Because they weren't good enough. ;)

Doubt we'll be either mind :p

That's what I love about rugby, going to the matches can easily be a great day out for the whole family - you don't get bloody footie hooligans throwing things and causing fights. At the Good Friday match against St Helens my friends and I were sat in the midst of a load of Saints fans, and we were all perfectly friendly (excusing, as you said, the normal banter). I don't think you'd find many latics fans at the rugby now, though, as most of them want us off "their" pitch. :(

Glynxpittle, who's your team?

Lol :) You know, i've never understood why they started calling rugby "Thugby". Yes, it's rough, but you don't get little gobshites like Wayne "Shrek" Rooney mouthing off at the ref, and you don't get the living daylights beaten out of you for wearing the wrong colour shirt at a match. Tis a Gentleman's sport, is rugby :p

Ah, whats the saying...

"On the pitch Rugby is played by gentlemen pretending to thugs, football is played by thugs pretending to be gentlemen."

Point is off the pitch they don't pretend. :(

As much as I dislike Manchester United, I cannot see them not winning this. Arsenal haven't beaten them since the Charity Shield, and they're missing key players.

(BTW I don't support Arsenal either, so I'm not biased at all)

I'm supporting united on the basis that I hate arsenal more.

I'd rather Tranmere got in (well, with luck they'll make the Premiership in 07) or Liverpool.

I'm going for a Man Utd win, mainly caus I live in Manc, despite the fact I'm a bradford fan.

That is a very good point lol. I'm backing Arsenal, just because (as I think I said) one of my housemates is a United fan, and it'll really annoy him if they lose. I don't think they will, though :(

On an entirely non-football note, did you see the Leeds score last night? I can't believe Leigh did so well. And, incidentally, I think Leigh fans may be partly responsible for some of rugby's bad name. Bloody bottle-throwing thugs

I can't believe that, I wanted utd to win but not by much, but for crying out loud arsenal had 2 shots in the entire game and only 1 on target. Pathetic.

Still Utd only have themselves to blame after not taking any chances. Why he didn't play smith instead of Van the Man (who needs a set of new feet after missing all those chances).

I did think Reyes' sending off was a little pointless, but there we go. He didn't make any attempt for the ball and semi led with his elbow so if the ref thinks so then hes going which he did. He had a crap game anywho.

Actually it was pretty calm for a man utd arsenal game. There were some meaty challenges though. Ashley Cole took out Wayne Ronney big time in the first half, then Roy Keane, as subtle as ever, body checked Fabregas in the 2nd half.

Yeah, I saw them. Kablammo! Keano got a knee in the nuts for that though, so I guess you could say justice was done (or was that in the first half, I forget). Ref did very well though.

Ref had a very good game. Talked to the players, kept em as calm as possible and didn't let the occasion get to him.

That's mainly cos it was, like was said, calm for a Man U - Arsenal match... Vieira should have been sent off, and Reyes was... but its not like he's going to hang around for long at Highbury...

I'd rather Tranmere got in (well, with luck they'll make the Premiership in 07) or Liverpool.

Yeh Benitez screwed liverpool over in our first match in the FA Cup against burnley by putting in our youth team. Our most expierienced player in that match was Djimit Traore DJIMI TRAORE! doesnt matter though we werent gonna do it anyway and we made the Champions League final which neither Arsenal or Man U. can claim this year
