... you might just find me wandering aimlessly! I got lost in some random woods near my school today!

Feel free to mock as I recount this amazing tale...

The time... 3:25 PM... My bus arrives at 3:40PM at College. I have a 15 minute walk... Easy I think...

I was in the highstreet of a town called 'Tenterden' and was walking back the way I came towards college. I was happy enough, following the road. However, i came to a crossroad... and stopped.

I looked left... Is that the right way? Or straight ahead... I decided to go straight ahead MISTAKE NUMBER 1! I wanted to go left! :p

After walking down the footpath for a few minutes it stopped...Hmm.. I thought. I must have gone the wrong way. There was this street next to me called 'Knockhead road'. Which sounded familar... I thought maybe it linked up to where I wanted to be... So i went down it.

I came to a junction... Left or right. I Though it would be quickier togo right mISTAKE NUMBER 2 The main road was left!:p

However, i continued and came to a dead end... But wait... There's a mud trail cycle path thingy leading right... perhaps it's a short-cut... I'll go that way MISTAKE NUMBER 3 It led to nowhere!

I followed the trail... it led into a wood... I wet and very muddy wood. This can't be the right way... I thought But this may be a short-cut. so i continued walking into the unknown wood Mistake Number 4 I ended up getting lost... and walking up hill... and being incredibly thirsty!!!!

After some distance, I decided that first of all I missed my bus... and secondly... I was lost. What was more i couldn't remember which way I had come, But I guessed which way the out was, and followed a trail back that way... and it led to where I entered the wood... How on Earth did that happen???

Anyway, i returned to the street, and this time went left, and kept following left and eventually arrived at the main road... Which was right outside my College...

phew!

There are two morals to this story

1. If in doubt... Go left!

2. Never go into woods you don't know.

when I was on the way back from the 24 hour tesco last night (somewhat inebriated, I'll admit) I took a "short cut" through this woody thicket type thing and ended up standing on the roof of some-ones house. In the end i had to go back the way I came. AND I lost my potatoes :(

and it was only about 200 yards from my house!

Always turn left, if in doubt go left, when you're on the right track you will always be turning left, never turn right.

This whole thread reminds me of that scene on The Naked Gun. You know, the one where it shows Dreben walking (only showing his shoes), going over these different streets and sidewalks, all while he's narrating. Then, it shows him stepping onto some dirt and grass, and he says, "...And where the hell was I?".

He somehow ended up in the Los Angeles hills!

well, it's kinda hard to explain (/remember)...
there was this sort of wooded area between the main road (Infirmary road, if anyone knows Sheffield) and a smaller road with some houses on it. For reasons that now escape me, I thought is would be a good idea to go, erm, a scenic route through a lot of nettles, which gave way to brambles, which gave way to huge bushes of ?blackthorn. Not to be deterred, I soldiered on until I came to this wall, which I scaled... the houses on the other side were set at a much lower level... I could get onto the roof (which I did) but not the ground, which was, well, it was where you would expect the ground to be if you were standing on the roof of some-one's house.

I got onto the roof of the adjacent house, but no joy there either, so back through the woods I go... getting entangled in thorny bushes etc... clothes and bags were torn...

and I figure that that is when I lost my potatoes

As a wain me and some pals were hanging about near the edge of the woods drinking and smoking joints. A local must have called the police (as we were being quite rowdey). The police came and chased after us so we led them into the woods via an abandoned quary. We then used our local knowledge to slip away quietly while the police men tried to figure out how to get back to their car.

It was quite a giggle spying on them tree the foliage...

I believe your whole problem could be solved by enlisting the help of an Aragorn. I never get lost and I watch out for a lot of people. Just find someone to look out for you and you'll never get lost again!
