Crime? What crime?

'Tis a good world we live in when crime is totally unknown in the 47877 first nations (that's more than a third of all) on the "Lowest Crime Rate" list. Now the question is, how do we make this happen in the (so-called) real world?

In my nation I think it has something to do with the 100% tax rate. Though on the surface that seems counter-intuitive, since if they have no money to buy anything they'd have to steal it-but then, from who? Everyone is still working and my nation keeps growing, so it must be a collective kitty and you aren't stealing from it, it's everybodies and you take what you need. I guess. All I know is I won't let them harm my frolicing Forest Walrus'.

Nooo... my nation has low flat tax and no prisons even. Had no crime until a recent UN charter.

stealing is understandable in that situation "cannot think of a name", but what if two people want the same thing, or what if one guy just dosent like another guy and decides to punch him up, things like murder, rape, things that can have motives other than theft

Then they are fed to the Forest Walrus'.

Actually, if my text is to be believed, we use all that money to counsel and care for our citizens so it doesn't become an issue. I guess.

Mine has a 3% flat tax rate.

The government is small, efficient, and not corrupt.

Criminals, including polluters, political crooks, and white-collar crooks like the Enron operatives, are executed and their property seized.

Bankruptcy is not allowed.

Private property owners can shoot trespassers.

Protestors are locked up for blocking access to buildings or thoroughfairs.

We don't give no steenking charity to foreigners.

Our citizens who don't work better have families or private charities to support them.

If our citizens have a problem with something, they can talk about it and complain to government officials about it, but they'd better not interfere with any other citizen's life, property, or liberty!

I make the rules in my paradise...if you don't like the rules, but you're not going to threaten me into doing anything. Or, you can move to someplace that has a 99% tax rate, an environmentally depleted eco system, and a large, corrupt government. HAH!

My nation has rather low crime rates, and when I first started (way before the shift from Scandinavian Liberal Paradise to Inoffensive Centrist Democracy, which I'm still upset about  ) was "virtually unknown". My tax rate is currently 37%, but until very recent measures were made, was above 44%.

I think in my case, maybe the low crime rate has to do with both the Excellent civil liberties and the absence of drug laws. Maybe the fact that I allow public nudity helps too.

I think if you let your people be as free as they wish to be, they'll be too busy having fun (ie smokin' on the lawn, nekkid as nature intended) to bother with crime.

Either that, or you could legalise EVERYTHING.
