Quit being so damned alarmist!!!

Many of you are rather like "Chicken Little," running around in circles screaming that the sky is falling everytime something happens that you don't particularly like.

The world is not coming to an end just because Congress passed the Patriot Act, or because a few strict-constructionist judges are appointed to the bench, or because America impliments a national ID card!

Then again, there have always been alarmists among us. Many of the Tories in "the Colonies" opposed the Declaraction of Independence because they were 100% certain the British would defeat the Continental Army and hang everyone.

Find something constructive to do: start a new hobby, read an actual book or two, take a long walk.

Or just get over it!

Or maybe post about it on NS. (I don't know about you, but I tend to sit down instead of running around in circles when I post.)

This type of forum is a new form of gossip. Gosssip has to be alarmist, exagerated, and unbelievable, otherwise it is just plain boring.

Put it into its proper perspective.

I'll bet this is exactly what the Tories that were on the side of the British were saying to the ones who were worried about the stirring of the populace.

What, I'm supposed to wait for that one big change, the "Now everyone dies" movement before I do anything about it?

It doesn't happen in one big change, it happens in many small increments, little conscesions here and there-yeah, "that sucks but I guess we'll live's" until you wake up one day and realize that for the last X years you've been living in a totalitarian state, that you've let the rope slip from your hands.

Bullshit. I cry extra bullshit because I don't believe that you even believe that bullshit. I don't believe for a second you'd be 'letting it go' if Kerry where president. I seem to remember not a few postings hot about whether or not some pancake breakfast could lead a prayer or other some such minutia.

"C'mon, roll over and play dead. You know ya wanna. How bad can it be to have me mount you? It's only servitude...."

Sigh right back at ya, big guy. Now who's being alarmist?

Which party is trying to pass the first amendment since prohibition to restrict peoples rights?

Which party wants to allow public institutions to compell me to worship and pray to their god?

Which party wants to have a say in how I spend my time, and who with?

Which party wants to be able to put me under survalance without all that pesky due process?

But hey, your right. Even though we register something we drive because they can kill, we shouldn't register something that all it does is kill. Crazy talk.

Seriously, you only see it coming from one side-and the best you can come up with is restricting what doctor you see??? (I mean, come on-private insurance providers do that...) That centrist claim is looking more and more tatered every day...

EDIT: Forgot a real quality one because it's a trick question:

Which party is it that wants to take away any recourse I might have to defend myself against entities with larger resources that I could possibly amass, such as corperations...?

The Americans gained their independence in the 1770s - the British Empire lasted until about the 1960s and it only began to decrease in size after 1945. 300 years, that is one long death.

Remember this one Eutrusca:

No One Left To Speak Up For Me

First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.

Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945
