Favorite band that's still performing

Alright, tell us what your favorite band is, but remember... The band must still be active! No defunct/dead bands.

My current favorite? Easy. Glen Matlock and the Philistines.

Open Mind is a great album, and it shows that Glen still has the knack for writing some of the best hooks you'll ever hear. My favorite songs on this one are Open Mind, Mugs Game (best on the whole album, in my opinion), and Catatonic.

On Something is even better. Glen's back full-force with this album, which contains such should-be classics as Suck It And See, Whose Side Are You On, On Something, and Better Start (Getting Used To It). If recent progress is any indication, their next album should be even better.

my current favourite band is Biffy Clyro

theyre Scottish, but dont let that put you off

they are truly, undeniably, brilliant

their best album is probably "The Vertigo of Bliss" closely (very closely) followed by "Infinity Land" and "Blackened Sky"

they generally release a new album every year, and still rehearse in their local YMCA hall. They are signed to the tiny "Beggars Banquet" label, and are currently working on their 4th album

"Infinity Land" was recorded in just one day, with every song being completely live. and perfect. they spent the rest of the week they had booked playing playstation.

My favorite band, Emperor, broke up a few years ago, and my second favorite, Metallica, I consider defunct.

So, I suppose I'd say my favorite band that's still playing would be Dimmu Borgir, or possibly the Porno Pandas

I don't know what it is, but Funeral is one of the few albums I can listen through in one sitting without getting bored or something. And when I saw Arcade Fire at Coachella, their live performance just cemented it for me.

Decemberists (and Neutral Milk Hotel) are fairly high on my list as well, but the three I gave first are my favorites, heh.

Funeral is the same way for me, but The Decemberists and Spoon have both released several albums that I can listen to straight through.

Is Mangum still performing? It has been a long time since NMH has released anything.

How could I forget to list Belle & Sebastien? 'DOH!
I think they'll be around for quite awhile. A sound like they've got has so much space to evolve. I look forward to hearing them making great songs for at least another decade (I hope)

some more on the electronic front (all live acts, some solo, NO DJs)

Top 3

1. Nine Inch Nails - Sadly, their current tour sold out before I could get tickets. Another tour, booked in larger venues, is slated to start in October...so there's always that.

2. In Flames - I get to see them at Ozzfest this summer. :D

3. Tool - 'Nuff said.

Hazel O'Connor, she's been on the go since 1980 when she was britains foremost female punk singer. In June she will be releasing her latest CD, though her style has now changed to an Irish celtic sound. her lyricas are still amazing and she still sings about things that are real, with passion.

If this question had habe been asked pre December 2004 it would have be The Libertines, but as they've now split they are not active now.

So I'll have to go for The Subways, who are a new exciting band from the UK. In their short career so far they have already played Glastonbury and I think are pencilled in for this years Carling Festival (Reading & Leeds) which i'll hopefully be able to go and see! ;) Their first single from their debut LP was a classic filled with teenage angst and a great rift and their LP is out soon so I can't wait.
Also finally the bass player is really HOT!

Another notable mensions would be: Bloc Party, White Stripes, the Von Bondies, Oasis, Razorlight, Kings of Leon, The Futureheads, The Zutons and The Ordinary Boys.

Yep, late last year. They've just released a new album (not out in oz yet) that pwns all their pacifier shit. Even when they were pacifier, they couldn't have a concert in NZ or Oz without a huge shihad chant going up, they even have it at the start of the 'pacifier live' album. John toogood said that the 'shihad' chant was louder when they were pacifier.
