Your fave video game music

Now I am one heck of a fan of video game music. Whenever I find what I want, I download it right away. I have a massive collection of Game music burned to CD, with my fave being my Skies of Arcadia collection, which I managed to download before the site was shut down by the FBI pending copyright investigation. :D

I can't show you my decent music because I have no one to host it, however I can give you a midi edition of my fave SoA track.

Trust me, the real deal sounds a hell of a lot better. Who else loves game music, and can you provide examples? I seek to increase the size of my collection, and learn of your faveroutes.

Favorite? That would have to be Mega Man 2's soundtrack. Great all over, except for Wily Stage 2.

Star Ocean 2. Hands down.

One old NES game that I think was majorly overlooked was Blaster Master. Great game, great music.

*Stuff*

Thanks, TIN, but I've already emptied out most of VGMusic and OCRemix regarding my favorite games. Also, I have the Star Ocean 2 Arranged Album, which is one of the best CDs ever created.

I guess I should give FF a mention too. There are quite a few good tunes produced by Mr. Uematsu. (Though there's a great deal of junk, also.)

The Black Mages CD is a great compilation of some of the best FF battle songs.

I really like the Zelda music. I can't really pinpoint a specific game; but its the only game soundtrack that never got on my nerves when I was playing it.

The best game soundtracs you say?

Cliver Barkers undying (Music by Bill Brown)
American McGee's Alice (Music by Chris Vrenna)
Quake (Music by Nine Inch Nails)

And finally:

Evil Genius (Music by James Hannigan)

Try the N64's F Zero X music. Some Japanese heavy metal band have actually recorded the songs too. Try searching Amazon for F Zero Guitar Arrange, and you'll find it. Its actually really skilled playing, if you like tuneful heavy metal (not the thrash variety)

Anything from the C64! There's plenty available here (http://www.c64.com/), and there's also Slay Radio, which can be found in the 'Internet Radio' section of RealPlayer. Classic.

Furthermore, I find the music from The Sims 2 to be rather catchy *blushes*

The FF VII and IX music is awsome, as well as any Mario game...in fact...i think Super Mario RPG may have had music that was quite similar to the overture from Phantom of the Opera, not the whole thing, just the begining...I'll have to play the game a gain to be sure...*begins compulsivly playing SNES so as to beat the game today in a few hours....* *rabmles even while posting and doing things*

This is probably over-said, but Metal Gear Solid 2. It aint classic, but its good!

Also, the music to Soldiers: Heroes of WWII works well within the game.

And yes, SimCity 4's music does work well.

 i've had that in my head for the last 2 or 3 days! yay!!:D

my favourite videogame music has to be either Sonic 3 (some of it was cool, especially Ice Zone and Carnival Zone), Super Mario Land for the SNES (the music is forever burned into my brain), or Halo/Halo 2 (cos the most excellent guitarist Mr Steve Vai plays on 2, and 1 is just cool)

Chrono Trigger; the music was some of the best Square/Enix stuff ever. My friend and I actually taped it off the TV speakers using a boombox, since we were too young to know about import CDs.

Later, we got the Piano score for the game, and learned to play the music. I also scored Magus' Theme for my high school pep band (I just didn't tell them it was from a video game ;) ). We only played it once or twice, but it was fun.

I'm with you. CT's got the best music of an console RPG and Magus' theme was something absolutely different from the normal happy sounds you hear on so many other games. You can really sense the pure evilness of the guy from the theme.

Otherwise Earthbound also has great music. It mixes well with the game but they give you a BAD headache if you play too long or have a hangover.

Final Fantasy Tactics for the Playstation has the best OST in my opinion.

That's also a good music score. I managed to pick up the 2-CD soundtrack for it, complete with a bunch of art in the flipbook.

Ahh...it brings back memories. I had a shattered knee in high school, kept me almost totally bedridden for 6 months. FFT was my constant companion, I put more than 500 hours into that game, hacked it every way possible, learned each and every detail and secret.

I played it so much that I cannot play it anymore. My brain associates its music with sleepiness, it lulls me into slumber whenever I play more than a few minutes. Because of that development, I used the Soundtrack as a sleep-aid during college.
