Questions for NS Players in France

Hi

I'm going to London soon for a couple of weeks and am considering (dependent on whether I can organise a visa and such in time) going to France for a few days, as I've been to Paris before (briefly in 2000) on a business trip and really liked it. There are a couple of things I was hoping someone could give me advice on (either here or you can TG me).

Can anyone suggest any decent restaurants in Paris that cater to vegetarians? When I was there last time the restaurants I went to were very kind in adapting their menus to offer something that I could eat (once I had explained what vegetarian was: "No, I don't eat meat. No chicken. No fish. No meat. No, no meat. I don't eat meat.."), but I was wondering if there is perhaps a restaurant that anyone knows of that offers vegetarian meals as a speciality.

The other thing I'd like to know is approximately how long it take to take a trian ride from Paris to Grenoble. Is it viable to take a train there, spend a couple of hours, and take a train back, or is it not possible to fit that into a day?

Thanks
Surtria

There you go for the list of vegetarian restaurants (http://www.cuisine-vegetarienne.com/index.php?liste_categ_adresses=1), though I never gave them a try.

A single fare to Grenoble will take three hours by train (TGV/direct/+-70€). Just a bit more if you take the connection in Lyon. Your idea is perfectly viable (I did it once) : simply put, the system is designed for these kinds of return fares.
Travel details can be arranged here (http://www.voyages-sncf.com/dynamic/_SvHomePage?_DLG=SvHomePage&_CMD=cmdHomepageUK&WB=HP). Note that you can have 25% off if you buy your travel more than 14 days in advance. ("Prem's" offer. You'll be required to print your own tickets, though)

'service. :)

Thank you very much for that information!
