NASCAR makes no sense to me. Watching people drive in circles for an hour isn't my idea of fun.

Agreed.

all that turning left makes me dizzy. And the bitch of it is, all the people watching are secretly hoping to see some poor sonofabitch mistakenly turn right...

I find the technology in the cars, and teams, pretty fascinating. The watching of races, which I do occasionally with friends that are nascar fans, is pretty brutal. But in so far as I root for anyone, I do root for Kasey Khane. And Rusty Wallace because I'm told he cries, but I haven't seen him do it yet. Maybe Thurman Thomas could take up Nascar.... Although it is pretty good for gawking at how amazing one's HD tv is.

You don't watch for the racing. You watch for the beer drinking and the wrecks. :D

I'm happy for Kahne, but really, I have no objection to the Hendricks-Roush domination week in and week out, particularly when it's Hendricks' turn.

Why do Americans often talk about Nascar in connection with President Bush?

The way demographic models are constructed for the purposes of guessing the outcome of elections.

In the past soccer moms were counted on to deliver democratic victories, in the new millenium Nascar dads were credited with delivering republican victories. It describes a particular lifestyle associated with political ideology.

Actually it much more than an hour often. And, this is the part people tend to miss, they are doing 180 mph door to door. While I'm not a big fan of ovals, I am a racing fan and ultimately have to give it up to NASCAR in that they actually fucking race as opposed to parade around in the same order as qualifying. The cars could run on flux capacitors and jump through fire hoops but if no one passes whats the point? In NASCAR you trully don't know whose going to win.

Heres the thing-I hate baseball. Bores me to tears. But I'm not so into myself that I can't understand how someone else who is more into it and understands it's intricacies can fully enjoy it, and I don't go squating in threads about baseball calling people idiots for liking it. I guess it's important enough for me not to be a jerk and show my ass at every chance...

When they race Watkins Glen and Infenion (Sears Point) Raceway, two of the toughest drivers courses in the states, they turn right and left very often.
