I agree with that one. There's nothing like a day on the beach, crushing donkeys' spines and getting infected by the water in the pouring rain...

I'm not too fussed, I like most things - except loud dance music and binge drinking trips. Also I'm too poor to go on any 'shopping intensive' holidays. Just want to de-stress, relax, or do something new and exhausting.

If you *are* a beach person, or love golf & fishing, try MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina. Not too hot but always warm. Friendly, but not too commercial. And, unless you're there on a holiday weekend (4th of July, Labor Day), relatively easy to book. Has an airport with connections through NYC (and some other cities), and you don't NEED a car, though it's better to have one.
Or, if you're planning a fall trip, try the foliage in New Hampshire through northern Connecticut, especially in the WHITE MOUNTAINS. Mount Washington & area is dizzying with color when the leaves change.
Cambodia, of course.
Where you'll do what you're told...
Anyway, I say the U.S. of A. Why? Well, it's really cheap, and it's massive. So many places to see, so many things to do. Don't go to a Baseball game... Those are boring. Go to a Football game if you wanna see a sporting event.
Where in America, you ask? Hard to say. San Francisco is *really* nice (though it's one of the few expensive cities in the country). However, if you're going on Spring Break (next year, duh), head for South Padre Island, Texas. It's raging during Spring Break, man. It's a hell of a place during that time.

Yeah, New Zealand is supposed to be nice (according to my mum, who's been there). Their accent would have to be one of the strangest accents I've ever heard (and we get quite a few of them here in Sydney, so trust me, I know what they sound like...).
They do have a lot of sheep, though, lol, and it's the butt of a lot of jokes... Apparently there's more sheep than people over there., mind, that's not hard when you consider there's less New Zealanders in NZ than there are people in Sydney.
They also have a very unusual accent. The old "fush and chups" is what springs to mind when I think of NZ'ers... lol. Don't get me wrong, the New Zealanders are wonderful people. Very friendly. It seems to be a trend in this corner of the world.
Us Australians have a friendly rivalry going with the NZ'ers. It's good, because Australia's usually on the winning side, although it's pretty close in Rugby Union.
At least you can understand what an Australian is saying most of the time. Some New Zealanders... (a friend of the family's kid was born in NZ and gosh it was hard to work out what she was saying)...
One really has to drive in NZ, but if you can't drive there's numerous bus tours that one can go on. Also, consider a stop in Sydney. It's so easy to be a tourist in Sydney, even if you live there (I love it in the city).

Im going to Holland for my first vacation of the year (in a week and a half). You really should take more vacations, what are you living life for if not to enjoy it? I try to take several small vacations throughout the year or one big one. This year its Holland, next year Im considering renting an RV and going across the US from one side to the other.

Northern California, here's why:
Our 'cash crop' is easy to get and really the best.
When you get back people will ask, "Did you see any movie stars?" and you'll be able to say "No." "Did everyone have hot tubs?" "No, it didn't seem like it." "Did you see a car chase?" "No, everyone just kinda drove normal (except on the right)" "What did you see?" "Just a bunch of nature and some really laid back people." "Are you sure you where in California?" "Thats what they told me. Turns out that LA is just one city down by the bottom, and not as some would believe the whole state." It will be great. And most of us up here won't hear your accent and call you Irish. (going by your location thingy. I make no garauntees on that last claim.)

Of the options listed, I'd choose Angkor Wat. Of the places I've visited, however, I'd plump for Scotland, specifically the Rannoch region. Loch Rannoch is truly stunning, Mt Schehallion is a very unusual and beautiful mountain, you're in easy reach of the Cairngorms, there are some decent distilleries nearby (Dalwhinnie and Edradour) and some very attractive small towns (Pitlochry and Aberfeldy).
