Go to the doctor and get a prescription for a sleeping pill.

I wouldn't take pills. They're more likely to screw your sleeping up than to help. Try tea or watching "The most beautiful Train Lines"...

Also, if you're thinking about problems when trying to sleep, don't do it. If you do that, get out of the bed so that you don't associate going to bed with thinking about your problems.

The sleeping pills of today are much better then the ones mom used to take back in the 60's. They give you a full nights restful sleep. Sure you should only take them occasionally or you'll become a pill addict like mom.

Have 3 or 4 glasses of wine, then lie down, relax and wait for your muscles to numb. If you are not acquainted to wine, have 1 glass or maybe 2; the idea is not to get drunk of course. Although the drunkness produced by wine is delitious.

Doesn't that lead to a life of "Hello, my name's The Noble Men, and I am an alcoholic. It all started when a person named Spearmen..." you get the idea.

Due what Moe Howard did, just boink yourself over the head with a wooden mallet.

Sorry, triple posted.

In response to Noblemen: yes, it can. But every person is a differant person, and that is somewhat a relief. When I was young, the mandatory shrink recommended me to drink wine to fight depresion (I did not wanted pills), since then I have been drinking wine every day and yes, one can say I got alot of alcohol in my blood. But you know, I suffered from insomnia too, and I sleep fairly well now, the mood is fine, and wine is good.

If you are a drinker drunkard, of corse I don't suggest taking this way without guidance.

Try getting a prescription for cannabis.

I don't think so. Thanks anyway.

Try getting a prescription for cannabis.

I don't think you can get that in the typical British pharmacy. Maybe because it's illeagal. Thanks for trying. :)

ok, assuming that it's nothing seriously wrong, I'm guessing that you're just out of whack (a medical term). So, you need to get back into whack.

My 30 day prescription:
1. get up early;
2. start a regular aerobic exercise plan, making sure you finish exercising by 8 pm;
3. stop eating junk food/eat a balanced diet high in raw vegetables (dark colors), including breakfast;
4. drink plenty of water (if you're average, probably 2X what you're drinking now);
5. don't smoke;
6. avoid stressful relationships;
7. have a real social life (uhh, that doesn't mean NS) with supportive friends;
8. take a warm shower about 1 hour before going to bed;
9. don't watch television after 9:00 pm.

If your life/emotional wellness is in turmoil, you're not going to be able to handle it well if you are out of whack physically. If your sleep doesn't get substantially better, go see a physician for a physical (blood work, etc.). If you're emotionally wrung out go see a licensed counselor.

Warm milk (seriously). Also, get out of bed, don't go to the computer, but go to an easy chair and read or watch non-exciting movies till you feel sleepy again, go back to bed. If you can't get to sleep within a half an hour, repeat.

If it keeps going for longer than three days, see a doctor (I had the same problem a year and a half ago).

If THAT doesn't work, ask NSers to start posting their academic papers, that should put anyone to sleep. ;)
