I've searched and searched for a way to set up a document in Microsoft Word so that the lines in the document are double-spaced, but can't for the life of me find it!

Anyone know how I can do this, please?

What happens when you go to Format/Paragraph in the menu?

Yes, go to Format, click Paragraph, then you be able to change line spacing (I think). It's possible that the menu bar is hiding options you don't use, so you may have to click on the little chevrons at the bottom of the menu after you click format to make all the options appear.

But I'm not the best person to get advice from. Many an hour I've spent wrestlin' with the beast that be Microsoft Word!

You would think it would be easier to find considering most people use double-spacing or are required to for work/school.

You'd think they would put one or more buttons for line spacing in the standard format toolbar.

Oh, wait. They did. :D

Pressing [ctrl] + [2] will also double space your document.

if you customise the toolbars you can get a line spacing button which allows you to choose from 1, 1.5, 2, and others. its useful as hell

Also, the Formatting Palette contains a double-spacing option.

Write in WordPerfect, then convert to Word.

Most folks in my area of work use WordPerfect, although some are going over to the Evil Empire. I get so frustrated trying to do something in Word that is so easy for me in WordPerfect, and the Word help section for WordPerfect users is worthless.

If you want problems with Word, try using the Chinese version. If I have to make any changes to the format, it's all from memory (a very unreliable source) which menu to access and buttons to click. Invariably it ends up with a lot of trial and error (and Ctrl + Z).
It's such a pain in the butt.
