So I was sat at home earlier spamming away and it suddenly came to my attention that i was nearing my 10,000th post, so i thought 'hmmmmm, what should I do for it?' so I came up with a couple of ideas but they didn't work, so I thought 'hey, I'll try and write a poem', which was kinda stupid cause poetry really isn't my forte. So anyway, after about an hour i'd managed to come up with 4 lines and I can't get any further, so my challenge to you, fellow NSers is to finish my poem....




I'd like to tell you a tale,
Of doughnuts, cookies and fine ale,
Of politics, religion and debates,
The tale of Nationstates...... a game which steals your soul away,
Never again to see the light of day,
Decisions here and decisions there,
Pesky extremists in your hair,
Dismiss this, dismiss that,
Fast foods making citizens fat?
Steal their gold, steal their rights,
Use nuclear power to run their lights...Our tale begins one lonely night;
One nation's birth begins its fight -
"Democracy?" its leader snarls,
"Why have this thing? It's such a farce!

Now to forums!" cries the loon;
His quest for glory begun to soon
(he's only twelve years old, you see,
not ready for his monarchy) -

He draws his sword in the USA,
In Kansas state he joins the fray:
He thinks that Darwin's all a lie
And atheists are commie spies.

The next day he returns to see
his holy state in anarchy!
With a quick "dismiss" he quells revolt,
For obedient are the people of Jolt,

Then back into the fray he rides;
Too young to see in aught but sides.
Complexity is past his gaze,
Debate a thing for future days:

He shouts "I'm right! And hang the rest!"
(not knowing here he's powerless)
"You're all insane, and evil too!
I cannot even talk to you!"

Yet talk he does, so endlessly:
Adults are never quite that free!
It's study leave, and at his school
Revision's just a sick taboo,

Until one day, allies declare:
"We've found a cooler game! Oh yeah!"
And off our mini-monarch runs
Commanding armies against the Hun.
Though Netizens we all must be
We stand so different - soon you'll see
There's oh-so-many waiting by
Who stay so quiet till their time

And then with all guns blazing turn
To those whose hatred they have earned.
Gun down their friends; without support
The trolls can't manage much retort!

There's those who linger on round here
Whose countries never disappear,
Who rule with kind and gentle hands,
Who don't dismiss, who have big plans.

There's those who linger on round here,
their fortunes made inspiring fear:
Supreme Ruler Czardas kills
for nothing more than Godly thrills;

There's those who linger on round here,
Online 'cause boredom drives to tears:
The fairy Tink inspires men
To down the work, take up the pen;

There's those with better things to do,
Distraction's what they're aiming to:
New Watenho, our brave young bard
Who, writing verse, avoids working hard;

Some patrol the forum streets,
Their powers truly mega-l33t,
The Moderators watch all round,
Careful, troll, they'll slap you down;

There's those we never hear of, true,
Their land's enough for them to do;
Deliberating day and night -
"Economy or civil rights?"

It's this majority who make
The backbone up of NationStates,
But rarely they're in isolation -
With real-world friends they conduct relations;

There's those who seek to proselytise
(In every argument, on all sides),
They burn straw men to draw the weak
But never have the truths you seek.

That's about the whole of NationStates,
Try it! Love it! Fight debates!
An online world, not just a game -
Your own society to tame!


Meanwhile nations come and go;
With neglect their deaths are slow,
But there are those who know no fear
and by mods' wrath soon disappear.

Behavior chosen on each day
Determines who will go or stay;
Mourn not those who cannot be found
For oft' you'll find they still abound.

New names though with your sight you see,
Some reminiscent of who used to be,
With but a closer look you'll find
Those nations of a familiar kind.

Some chat in forums, some RP,
While others govern privately;
Democracy, anarchy, dictatorship too,
Socialism, Capitalism . . . which one's for you?

In NationStates there's much to decide
When in one of its regions you do reside;
If your many decisions do not work out,
Start a new puppet and try some more out.But those who are in the UN beware,
Only one each is allowed in there.
If beyond that you try to roam,
Someday DEATland might be your home.

Proposals to approve and votes to make
When in the UN -resolutions are at stake;
Debates you'll find where opinions vary
and sides are taken -some find it scary!

Most nations, though, in here are not
Participants in the UN “plot”,
They often prefer to therefore remain
autonomous here within this game.

If new you are to this internet game,
Then help abounds when sought for by name
Go first to the FAQ and, if not there found,
Come next to the forums where stickies abound.

Help can be found through starting a thread
And advice for all newbies will there be said.
However, if a n00b you become,
then many are saddened -for those are no fun!

To be honest, I think I was being confused by the fact that it was so hugely amusing for a bloke to be called anything derived from "Tinkerbell" that it just had to be true. Now I see it, though: British irony does not pervade all, especially in arenas of true internationality like Interwebland.

Can I have that cookie in memory-flavour? It's exam season, and I have my first in about three hours.

If you call the police and tell them to come over immediately as you're held hostage in the basement, and they find you're not, you get reprimanded but little more. :p Lol, it's always amazing how far off-topic these threads can get -especially in General. But back on topic for a moment, here is some more poetry if you'd like to add more:

Only one each is allowed in there.
If beyond that you try to roam,
Someday DEATland might be your home.

Proposals to approve and votes to make
When in the UN -resolutions are at stake;
Debates you'll find where opinions vary
and sides are taken -some find it scary!

Most nations, though, in here are not
Participants in the UN “plot”,
They often prefer to therefore remain
autonomous here within this game.

If new you are to this internet game,
Then help abounds when sought for by name
Go first to the FAQ and, if not there found,
Come next to the forums where stickies abound.

Help can be found through starting a thread
And advice for all newbies will there be said.
However, if a n00b you become,
then many are saddened -for those are no fun!
