I just got a discount offer from Apple for a PowerBook and for a Power Mac both fully loaded and it will cost me about 450.000 ISK (Icelandic Króna) so my question for you guy's is this, what do the same Apple comp. cost you in your country fully loaded?

No, it means that they want the same price for each. 1 Apple computer is 450.000 ISK (c.a. 6,746.62 USD).
Fully loaded is just a term that means that the computer has all that I need. In my case it is for filmmaking.

"fully loaded" for me would not cost that much

Mine cost @ $3000 and I can get a better one cheaper now. Fuckin' computers.
I have a PowerBook G4 1.25 512 yadda yadda. Runs FCP 4 pretty well, I've even done animations in FCP and it wasn't that big a deal. Rendering complex sequences took forever and a day, but I don't know how much better that would really be with a 1.5 or whatever they're shuckin' these days. If I where to get a new one it would be a G5 Dual, because this thing does just fine so I can still take it with me to do designs on the spot and show people what I'm working on. Though I need to fix the screen that I messed up and the battery deally I messede up because I didn't know you had to plug into the wall before plugging in to the machine. (so now it only thinks I have an hour of battery)
EDIT: I should add that this came 'out of the box,' so it wasn't hot rodded. It was the 'best available' but it didn't have any add ons.

I was thinking about getting a PowerBook but that would mean that I couldnt work in 'Real Time', the plus side however is that I could work at any place no problem.

I render most things in 'real time' and anything too complex I really should be doing in After Effects anyway (but I don't because for some reason that program gives me the heeby jeebies. I think because it's more like Photoshop than it is like FCP and I'm only barely functional in Photoshop.)
But transitions etc., most of the stuff you can do in real time. And being able to take your work anywhere is a major boon. Though you still need to invest heavily in external harddrives.

HeHeHe, I don't like working with Photoshop but until now I have had litle other option as I get to use the studio at my school free of charge and they use those programs.
I just got a litle funding and sold my 'old' eq. so thats why I am going to get the Apple eq. It's something I had to do anyway for Film School in America.

Photoshop is inescapable. It's probably the best (I'm just taking everyones word for it) at what it does AND FCP just takes Photoshop files right in. It's just all the poking around and making layers and isolating images...it's not very creative and takes a damn long time. Though I'm trying to come up with a good 'receipe' for filters to make something look animated in the style I want (and drawn). I have a few projects that I think would be better served in that style. Nothing sucks more, though, than getting halfway through that process and then realise that you didn't flatten the image and so a layer was left out of the effect...

Could you link to a site with the specs of the computer your looking at? I blinked twice when I checked the conversion rate. $6,756.25, that's a shitload of money. I got my laptop for substantially less. Of course, I'm using Windows...

Yeah, I hate when that happens, I even busted a keyboard once because I had been working for DAYS on a montage project for school and I missed one litle layer and the thing was ruined.
As I understand it there many programs on the market in the U.S. that have pre-made 'looks', Photoshopish looks, that are easy to insert into FCP. Dont know if that is true or not but if you know of any please let me know.
If it's a personal look you want though Photoshop is second to none.

I don't know of very many plug ins. I focused on the story telling aspects rather than the technical. Sad really-for the most part in student and indie film you either get a good look with a craptacular story or a good story with a craptacular look. The creativity of both types aren't often in the same room. The real trick is being able to reach across the aisle and go, "Look man, I got this story-but you do this better than me." or "I want to do this, could you help me flesh out the story?" Toward the end of my schooling I started to understand that. Had I understood it earlier my demo reel would be much much cooler. As it is I have to go back and touch up things I know how to do better now.
The dreaded "Fix it in post." (NEVER say that, if you don't already know...there is no substitute for getting it right in camera)

Agreed.
Are you working on a film or script now?
