Shameless plug but for a good cause

For everyone out there who likes vampires, gothic culture or just good RPGs I suggest you go out and buy Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines. It's got heaps of variables so there's plenty of replay value and it's got a good storyline behind it. All right, now I'll explain the reason behind this blatant promotion. It's not selling too well and the company may be going bankrupt, and I think it's a damn shame. I hate companies that make interesting and entertaining games go out of business because some big FPS crap has been released not long before it. Don't let it happen. Anyway, there's my rant. Hope you go out and buy it.

I'll never buy it (not my style), but you remind me to go out and procure myself a sharp stake. Thank you for that.

It's not exactly my kind of game either. In my mind it's simple, the companies which make the best games deserve the majority of the market.

Because I'm afraid in the dark and I don't like dreary vampire-afficionados. :p Not because it's a crappy company (unlike some people's beliefs).

 I thought it had already gone out of business. Clicky! (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/vtmb/news_6119143.html)

Though it is quite a cool game, even for someone who doesn't usually like that type of stuff like me. Anyway, I don't have it since my computer is too shit.

You a Goons Show fan by any chance?

To answer the question of whether I like the Goon Show I shall first say *metal clunking sound* My knees have fallen off! No I'm a big fan of Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers and Spike Milligna (The World famous typing error). Damn shame about the company though...

Yes, Troika is bankrupt. No, it was not a great game. It felt unfinished, and could have done a lot more. It does not have much replay value either. Even if you make different dialog choices, or play with a different clan, the outcame will not change significantly.

And if I wanted to play an FPS, I would buy Half-Life 2 or Doom 3, not an RPG.

Overall, it was a very dissapointing game with a lot of potential.

Ummm. . . a lot of Troika games were like that.

my son loved vampire--the masquerade bloodlines but he got caught in a glitch "just after you save the professor". do you know a way around it?

Yeah, that's seems to be a common glitch. I got the same thing, gets really annoying.

Anyway, from; http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/vampire_tmb_b.txt

The game chrashes when escaping the Society of Leopold. This is how
you solve it at the current time.
The following can be found on Activision's official site:

We are still looking into this issue at the current time, but the following
should get you past the issue.

This fix involves using some console commands. Be careful to enter the
console commands exactly as
they appear, capitalization is important.

To enable the console for the game:
1) Right-click on the shortcut you use the launch the game
2) Select properties
3) Make sure you are on the shortcut tab
4) At the end of the target line add -console, add this outside of the quotes
5) The finished line should look like this if you have the game installed to
the default directory
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -
console
6) Hit ok, make sure you launch the game using this shortcut

Once you have enabled the console load the saved game from this level
and do the following
1) Get to the boat and approach it, do not get into the boat, but get as close
as you can
2) Open the console using the tilde "~" key
3) Type the following commands in:
If you saved Johansen:
SaveJohansen()

Then to level transition if you're anybody but a Nosferatu:
changelevel2 la_hub_1 taxi_landmark

And if you're a Nosferatu, instead use:
changelevel2 la_hub_1 sewer_map_landmark

4) If you get to the next level and you do not have any items in your
inventory reload your previous save
(make sure you have a discreet save and are not just using the autosave)
and try it again, but stand
closer to the boat.

I hope that's want you were refering too :)
