There's no repercussions. The Time Lords disappear, and take your best friend with 'em. What better reason to get free drugs?

That, or Ibuprophin, whichever is appropriate.

Oh! someone taking television too seriously. *hands him an ibuprophin*

I will swallow my words if you remember Ian Chesterton.

Personally I'm more concerned with the implications with regard to Susan.

Well, Romana II was last seen holed up in E-space, so there's a strong possibility there.

Now I am speculating on who Susan's mother was...

Tegan

Hartnell/Troughton/Davison.

SJS, Jamie, Zoe, Ian and Babs.

For me the whiny and petulant Tegan rattles around in the bottom of the barrel along with Adric.

I liked Adric. Poor lad, escapes from e-space only to wind up on a ship that smashes into Earth.

From tonight's episode - "My entire planet died. My whole family..." Oooh.

Given that the current crop of writers have been active in fandom for years I think we can probably wager that they are very much aware of Susan, but haven't yet felt the need to jam in a continuity reference to an event which was first seen on screen 41 years ago (or 22 if you want to take The Five Doctors).

Having said that though, Carol Ann Ford has played the part of an alternate Susan in a couple of the Big Finish audios, and so I guess we can't entirely rule out the possibility of a return to the TV screen for her...

...however, personally I somewhat expect that we are more likely to get a reference to the Meddling Monk before we get the lowdown on Susan.

Which BF audios? I haven't heard them all yet, but I've a few upstairs that I'm going through.

You're right on the Monk thing though, but I do hope they don't bring him back. Don't get me wrong, I actually liked the character but I don't think they could replace Peter Butterworth. I wonder what happened to the Rani though...

Two of the Doctor Who Unbound series featuring Geoffrey Bayldon as an alternative Hartnell-Doc and Carol Ann Ford as his granddaughter Susan - Auld Mortality and A Storm Of Angels. Both rank in the upper third of the BFs, in my opinion.

Ah, that answers a lot. I haven't heard any of the Unbound series, but I think I'll look out for them now...

Sympathy For The Devil and Deadline are probably the ones of the Unbound series I would rate as the most successful. SFTD is a fairly straightforward alternative telling of the Doctor's exile to Earth and throws up some very nice alt-history for the UNIT boys, while Deadline is just very, very different entirely.
