A bunch of young adults (all over 18) lure a mentally retarded man to an underage drinking party. They get him drunk and one of the kids assaults him. The man has a concussion and begins gagging and vomiting everywhere. They then throw him in the back of a truck, drive out to a field, and dump him (on a fire ant hill no less). They leave him for dead.

The man is later found and taken to a hospital. He now cannot walk without assistance and cannot talk. As a note, his favorite pasttime before this was dancing.

The juries in the cases have all pretty much recomended parole and no jail time.

One of the townspeople says:
It's been handled good as far as I'm concerned. They ought not to have been tried at all. I think they should be turned loose, set free, with a slap on the wrist. It was just one of those things.

In our constitution it says "All men are equal" Why are we so fucking stupid that people that do this get off so damn easily!? This shit really burns my ass. But this 44-year old black mentally retarded man was clearly singled out and BROUGHT to the party to screw with. That isn't merely malicious mischief. That's deliberate evil.

I agree. They are all adults. They knew what they were doing. They all should have been given at least the ten years (without parole) which the article states.

My point exactly, humiliation in public, and a painfull one. And tatoo on their forehead after that "I`m an asshole. Kick me!", being forbidden to remove the tattoo or hide it for the next 5 years.

The Black guys would be on death row and the country would be outraged. But some poor black retarded guy is nearly killed and almost nothing is done about it. So much for "All men are equal".

I personally think they should be required to do time. Then, when paroled from that, they should have to work for at least a year, doing community service in a home for the mentally disabled. If, during this time, one of them does anything wrong there or so much as touches alcohol - right back in jail.
