After reading the "novel" he wrote, I think he just might be stupid enough.
This is the novel he wrote where Nazi paratroopers invade the U.S. and are fought off by citizens using their right to bear arms. What he appeared to fail to realize was that he had alread said that the Germans were disguised as U.S. Millitary Police. I find it rather disturbing that he wrote a book in which Americans just happened to decide to go out and shoot uniformed members of the U.S. millitary. The only explanation I can think of is that the Nazis just happened to blunder into an armed upraising of United States citizens against the millitary. Talk about bad luck.
Newt Gingrich doesn't do research. He thinks you can strap a rocket onto a World War II fighter plane and improve its performance. While U.S. planes where slightly more sturdy than Mechersmidts and Zeros, a rocket would still result in wings being torn off etc. if fired at high speed. This suggests he thinks his ideas are more important than actual reality. Actual examination of reality is for chumps.
