I found this article and wanted to share. Amazing, huh?

They don't even know what is causing this syndrome.

Weird. If they can find the genes that cause her condition it may shed light on human aging, and perhaps help develop a "cure" for old age.

Creepy. This is like the opposite of the syndrome I read about the other day that causes premature aging.

That would be great to have the cure for old age. But I fell sorry for this kid haveing to stay a baby her whole life.

Considering she doesn't seem to be growing up mentally it probably doesn't bother her.

Ive seen a young/old boy and girl with that. I assume they were brother and sister. They were running around, happy as ever. I felt so sad.

I work with SN kids and I've seen something very like this. A boy who looked exactly like an 8/9 year old in appearance/size/weight but was in fact 17. I couldn't believe it when one of the nurses told me his age. It didn't seem to work at all.

The really interesting thing is the secondary effects of the syndrome (the tumours, seizures, etc) and what genes are responsible for them and how they are related to 'not aging'.

Can we stop or reverse old age and avoid all these nasty side secondary problems?

She's the only one in the world with the syndrome. It just boggles the mind.

There's always a first example of a mutation.

A less exaggerated one though would have been interesting. Basically it looks like she simply ceased to continue development, much like some tadpoles never become frogs. My grandma had one with just that disorder, actually. Cute bugger, biggest damned tadpole I've ever seen.

Of course this condition is going to end with her since she can't reproduce. I'm more interested in the cause and how often something like this occurs. Surely is must have happened more than once. Someone mentioned something similar in an earlier post so there may be SOME documentation.

Many conditions that limit reproduction show up all the time but usually result in sterility or death. This one is unique since it prevents aging, period.

It has to be a chromosomal error. A very uncommon one certainly, which makes me wonder what mechanism caused it.

Got pic of giant tadpole? :D
