My school is located right next to Ellsworth airforce base in south dakota. We have about 70-85% of our students are airforce dependents. We also recieve most of our funding from the Airforce. So I would say my school is screwed.

Must be a rather noisy place to study.

yup, they are closing it. It does get pretty noisy when the b-1's take of and hit the afterburners. The school shakes like crazy.

I am very sorry to hear that.
We are also in jeopardy of losing our Naval Base.
It will completely destroy our local economy if this happens.
30,000 jobs will be lost... that could pretty much equal 30,000 families.
Imagine the impact??? :mad: :(

all the towns near it will suffer as well

Loring AIr base used to have tons of b-52 bombers and we were the closest base to moscow durring the cold war years so we had nukes as well.
When Loring air base closed down in limestone maine 1994, every thing north of bangor turned to shit. Everyone moved away the population of Limestone dropped from 12,000 to 2,000,
and there were no more jobs.
we lost aa huge chunk of our population+ less tax money.
we allso lost federal funding.
now were lossing Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Limestone /
Naval Reserve Center, Bangor / Naval Shipyard Portsmouth.
DEFAS was one of the things we tried to salvage from the closeing of our base.
