In 1998 a metal, van-sized cargo container crashed off the shores of Iles de Kerguelen in the South Indian Ocean. Scientists found inside thousands of books in an alien language. For seven years the international team of scientists worked in extreme seclusion to decipher the xenoic tongue. They then proceeded to fully translate a history book, the kind that is given in a classroom, seeing how it would most likely help in viewing the entire history of the Planet Napelaee. This is an entirely text version.
Chapter One
Napeis Beginnings
In this Chapter
Discover the orgin of the Napei race.
Learn about the first Napei city
Find out how ancient Napeis lived
It is not known where the exact point the first Napei man stood out of the ocean, but archeological evidence shows it was somewhere along the Southern most part of the Napeis continent. Slowly spreading upwards to fill the entire southern peninsula of the continent, unable to continue northward because of huge mountains blocking a narrow straight.
The first Napei tended to congregate in small groups of around 15 to 20. There would be a usually equal amount of males and females so each male could fertilize a female mainly to prevent inbreeding. Often times if two males both wanted a certain female the female would pursue each male and select one. The rebuffed male would find a lone female. If none he would have a lonely winter. Often times a clan might lose some members this started the beginnings of war and trade. If a clan with more females than males (A) met a clan with more males than females (B) then clan A would send females to clan B to even out the population and increase overall satisfaction in the clans. If a clan then had an even amount of males and females (C) met a clan with many more males than females (D) clan D would normally attack clan C kill some of the males and then take some females to even things out. This would spawn overall uniformity among the Napei making most have roughly the same gray leathery skin. This would also start the idea that every male should stay with one female and have all offspring with one another.
The overall yearly schedule of ancient Napeis would go as such.
Summer: Raising of young. General trading and war season. Young fish hatch from eggs providing good feeding.
Fall: Breeding time if female is ready. Lowering in fish stocks due to many going out to sea.
Winter: Highest levels of fish because of fish breeding in rivers.
Spring: Birthing. Not such great time for fish. General time of overall calmness between clans.
The Spring was a time of united-ness between clans mainly because of birthing. This was because all females must give birth is deep water, or face death, which may take long amounts of time. (This is why females have extra lung capacity on their chests. This is also why females with larger chests were more sought after than ones with smaller.) Since there were not many deep places on the southern peninsula clans would have to gather at the few deep ponds and lakes. Clans would find their way there because all streams eventually lead to deep water. (This is why Napei never ventured far from water due to lack of fish and fear females couldn’t get to deep water in time. This would not be a problem since the southern peninsula has many rivers.) As the females would go underwater to give birth or assist in giving birth the males would come together. This would be the start of language.
I'm tired more later.
