Star Trek - Star Wars Poll

Californian Refugees

Many people who like Star Trek dislike Star Wars, and many who like Star Wars dislike Star Trek. I was just curious to see if the split is along Red State/Blue State lines.
If you do not come from the US, and wish to vote, you are welcome to do so. Just pick which one you would identify with more, if you had to choose.
If you hate sci-fi, well, then, obviously this poll is not for you :)
(Star Trek can be defined by whichever of the shows you like best, and Star Wars can also be defined as to which of the movies (or other stuff) you like best)

There isn't an option that 'I like Star trek and star wars equally'

I know and I'm sorry. I like both of them as well, but I wanted all of us (me included, I'll vote later--don't want to skew the results by appearing biased) to have to choose one over the other.

I was forced to vote Star wars in the end. I like Star trek for it's better depth in storylines and character, but star trek is faster, and more action and stuff blowing up!

I presume blue means democtaic and red republican? I'm not familiar with yankee political colour-coding. Here you're either red (communist) or yellow (incredibly stupid)

That would've gotten my vote.

Again, my apologies. Please read my first post. The poll is not intended to be US vs. other, it is intended to compare two differing points of view and mindsets. The terms used are used simply for better clarity, rather than having long lists of issues, or by using words that are interpreted differently in different countries.

You should have left the poll open for longer. Three votes doesn't provide anywhere near an accurate or even relevent result.

Not neccessarily. I don't want to define the terms too closely.

Lol. Funny thread. Though I don't see the connection. I guess your science project is flawed.

Unless it's to do with more blue state people like Jedi's, whereas Red states would say that Jedi-ism is in league with the devil.

It should be still open?!?

:) I don't know if there is a connection or not. I just thought it would be interesting to find out.

You wouldn't happen to like Dr. Who? I've never been able to figure that one out, and would love to hear a fan talk about it.

Star Trek, Star Wars and Dr Who all rock.

But as for the new Battlestar Galactica what the fuck was that? Disapointing.

Nah, I just don't like US politics :p

Though the best Sci-Fi ever is clearly Red Dwarf :D

If the poll's anything to go by, it just shows blue staters are more likely to be geeks.... :P

Luke the wide eyed naive farmboy dreaming of the big city but trapped by practical obligations to family is obviously a Red stater.

Darth Vadar whose Sith religion's purpose was to get the Jedi (religion) out of politics with little regard for outer rim hicks...Blue state.

This article got me curious:

I think the poll shows pretty clearly that there are no political patterns to liking one over the other.

Which one was red again?

Basically the parts of the USA away from the coasts and away from the Great lakes, to put it way too simplistically.

starwars over trek anyday, i mean i like them both but star trek was only good in the kirk era. after that it became socialist utopia political correctnessRus.

of course out of the "big 3" i choose babylon 5 over both of them in a heartbeat for it's beter use of realistic physics and a great linear plot.

as for the second half....red states even though i am an independant, i am a gun owner..and the blues favor socialistic societies like post kirk era trek ;)

Well, I LOVE Trek, but Enterprise was a disappointment... go TNG!!

at the same time, I loath Star Wars, but its grown on me recently. not yet at Star Trek status, but better than what it was (scum of the earth).

Which Star Trek are we comparing to? In case you've forgotten them all, here is a refresher...

Star Trek, The Original Series:
Kirk: Klingons off the starboard bow! Slaughter 'em! (I'll be in my cabin with an alien girl.)

Next Generation:
Picard: Klingons off the starboard bow! Let's talk to them, and see if we can't settle this peacefully...

Deep Space Nine:
Sisko: We really can't go anywhere, since were in a dang space station. Maybe the Klingons will come visit.

Voyager:
Janeway: Klingons off the starboard bow! I hope their phasers don't hurt Tom and B'Elanna's baby. How does this make everyone feel?

Enterprise:
Archer: Klingons! And low ratings! T'Pol, find a reason to show off your giant vulcan, uh, logical nodes...(heck, it worked with 7 of 9!)
