All you Battle Fleet Gothic People...

Germanische Zustande

I've been into BFG for about a year now... I play as the Imperials. To date, I've only played in seven battles, 4 against a Chaos fleet, and 3 against a Dark Eldar fleet.

As of now, my fleet stands at:

1 Emperor Class Battleship
1 Avenger Class Grand Cruiser
1 Mars Class Battlecruiser
2 Gothic Class Cruiser
1 Dictator Class Cruiser
2 Dominator Class Cruiser
1 Dauntless Class Light Cruiser
6 Firestorm Class Frigates
4 Cobra Class Destroyers
3 Falchion Class Escorts

And,

3 Orbital Defense Platforms

Anyway, I'm just wondering if there are any other BFGers on NS, and what your fleets are.

(By the way, I won 3 of the 4 battles with the Infidels, and won two of the battles with the Dark Eldar (I lost the first battle))

So, do you have a link?

No, not right now. But if you want, I can get a picture and have one up tomorrow, as I just spent today repainting my fleet. I just have to finish redoing the Prows and the Dauntless.

Do you play?

I know there's more BFG players out there...

Does anyone have any of the new ships? Like the Imperial Grand Cruisers or any of the Voss triumvate?

I'm not a BFG fan but I used to play 40k, and I seem to recall there was an Ork fleet... does that not exist anymore? whatever happened to the Orkies?

I play warhammer 40k and fantasy and as soon as I saw BFG a few years back I actually thought of starting a fleet of my own. But then I didn't... for some reason long forgotten. But I did get the urge to start one this year but I would have to order all the ships from britain and that would cost me... well, alot.

But anyways, no I don't play but it sure looks cool. Good luck though, ;)

Yeah the orks do have a fleet as do the tau i think, but i don't play, i can't really get the time/opponents to round here... I've only ever played in one battle actually and it was a long time ago.... but fun from what i remember

I play an Imperial fleet, Admiral Herog von Nukeem, consisting of:

Wille des Imperators (Retributor Battleship)
Sturm der Vergeltung (Mars Battlecruiser)
Incubator (Kaiser Schlachtkreuzer - don't know the type in English atm)
Gouverneur Lysander (Lunar Cruiser)
Mentor Tuus (Lunar Cruiser)
Crux Lamentor (Dictator Cruiser)
Decapitator (Colossus Cruiser)
Akorahil (Light Armatus Cruiser)
Squadron Aries (Firestorm Class Frigates)
464th Destroyer Squad "Kobalt" (Cobra Destroyers)

I also have another Squad of Cobras, Firestorms and Falchions in the dock, as well as another Light Cruiser two more Cruisers and another Mars Battlecruiser.

In the meantime I think all 40K races have a fleet.

I just sold my 5000 points worth of Blood Angels, though, but I have 2000 points Guard (CLASSIC tin Cadians) and 2000 points Sisters of Battle/Witch Hunters.

I also have a Witch Hunter, a Vampire and a Bretonnian Mordheim gang. I don't have most of the stuff with me, though, I gave it to my Mom to store it for me, because there was no possibility to move all of my minis to my new place which is 450km away from my old "home".

I don't play that much anymore, anyway. I hate geeks trying to hit on me...

P.S.: Forgot my Van Saar Necromunda gang. ;)

The Orks are nasty man... Imperials do not do well against Eldar/Dark Eldar fleets, Orks, or Tyrannids. They fight best against Tau and Chaos (duh).

Red East: You don't have a Games Workshop near you? How sad...

Franziskonia: Sie sprechen ze Deutsch? Ich sprechen un bitte. Du bist in Deutschland? Schlacht means 'Battle' in German. Kreuzer is obvious. Therefore, a Kaiser class Battlecruiser. I am not familiar with that class... Specs?

I have three ~3000 point fleets:
My Imperial (undefeated!) fleet is based around an Apocalypse class battleship. It's lance heavy and has a bunch of Nova canons.
Roster:
Fort St. John the Divine Ramilies Class Star Fort
Redeemer Apocalypse Class
Aries Mars Class
Tiberius Overlord Class
St. Mark Lunar Class
Chartres Gothic Class
Salisbury Gothic Class
Rampage Dominator Class
Unconquered Dauntless Class
8 Firestorm Class escorts
7 Sword Class escorts
2 Cobra Class Escorts

My Chaos fleet hasn't won one yet, despite the presence of the Planet Killer! I've only fought Imperial with it, and I had my @$$ handed to me every time

My Necron fleet hasn't been in battle yet, as I'm not finished with assembly and painting.
Oh, and I'm putting together a WH40K Imperial Guard army, too.

I'll probably add an Avenger class Grand Cruiser, another Dominator class, Another Gothic class, and convert the Mars to an Armageddon class.

I find that broadsides work best on Dark Eldar, if you can keep them in the port and starboard ranges... Nova cannons are useless, and I frequently end up ramming.

I intend to convert the Mars, as I no longer need the cruisers to provide my fighter/bomber cover. With the Emperor and the Dictator, I should be able to lay down sufficient fighter coverage, and launch plenty of bombers. If need be, Shark Boats also.

In other words, I will centralize my fleet around the Emperor, with the Gothics and Dominators keeping the enemy away. I intend to use the Avenger as a close escort, to prevent any ships getting too close. If necessary, I can use it for its intended purpose: To rush into the heart of the enemy fleet and wreak severe damage.

Oh, and, Arpwat, is a Ramilies worth however much it costs? It must be $40-$50 bucks...

(you should have made multiple choices enabled)

I have about 5k points of imperial

added to that i have about 4k points of chaos fleet, 2k Tau and a roughshot collection of random other ships.

Oh, and Dark Angels are wimps ! ;)

Specs?

Well, I am German, so I think I should be able to speak German. ;)

Anyway, the "Kaiser Schlachtkreuzer" is the "other" Imperial Battlecruiser. It's armament is:

8 60 cm Weapon Batteries starboard and port
2 60 cm Lances on the deck
6 Barrel Torpedolauncher in the front

It might be the Overlord Battlecruiser.

@Arpwat: Forget the Planetkiller, it's expensive and an easy target. Use Carriers instead. That's what Chaos is best in - flooding the table with bombers and fighters and using that "air superiority".
Imperial fleets have the best Escort ships, Orcs are.... well, Orcs, Eldar are the typical cheesy cheater's fleet and unfortunately I haven't played against the "newer" fleets yet.

I know I have too few Escort ships, that's why I'm upgrading with so many, as well as the Light Cruisers.

I've played a number of battles as chaos, and I usually played them in my local hobby shop, that has it's own battle events. The most recent was a massive black crusade campaign, and we won-we fought all the way to earth and blew it up with the planet killer. Woo hoo!

That campaign lasted a whole year, and the entire ork fleet was decimated within 3 months... :D

The Eldar faltered a few months later, followed by the Dark Eldar, But surprisingly the small Necron fleet lasted almost up until the end, when the Chaos fleet bumped into them and anialated them. Of course the Imperials were the last to fall, being the largest, but our fleet leader came up with a brilliant tactic that wiped out the entire escort group in one turn. What a lucky handful of dice! Without their esorts the main battleships were wiped out with torpedoes.

Best campaign ever. I hear they're doing another one soon, featuring an Ork invasion.

it's a tabletop wargame set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe (Tagline: "IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE, THERE IS ONLY WAR."). In this instance, you control fleets of spaceships, of the various races of the universe. there's lots of dice-rolling and an element of tactical play, which is fun. many people also take great pride in their well-painted miniature spaceships. it's quite fun as a hobby.

for more info: games workshop (the maunfacturers) website (http://www.games-workshop.com/)

you can probably download the rules by this point, but i haven't checked. enjoy!

Sdaeriji,
You can download the rulebook, FAQs, and updates for Battlefleet Gothic at
the BFG website (http://www.specialist-games.com/battlefleetgothic/default.htm) .

Franziskonia,
The Planet Killer is slow, and everyone loves to pound on it, but it's just SO cool :) I don't mind having lost every battle with my Chaos fleet, it was FUN shredding at least a few things with the Armegeddon Gun!

Germanische Zustande,
The Ramilies is a really nice looking model (it was a BEAST to put together, lousy cast quality on the resin), and it can be a vicious thing. I has an enormous amount of long range firepower (5 lance, 12 Weapons batteries (60cm range), and 4 launch bays per quarter, and 9 torpedos (30cm) on the center) and can really dominate a big chunk of the table. Potentially you can throw 16 squadrons every other turn! And it has a special rule that it never runs out of torpedoes. It's kind of like four battleships stuck together. Of course, it can't move, which is a big negative! Whether it's worth £35 (with today's exchange rate that's US$70! Ouch!) or not, well... But it sure is great to have that big ol' monster sitting out on the middle of the table!

well they have to make thier money somehow.

consider that you can go to any gaming store and usually get a game. the games are free and the terrain and tables are provided by the store.

unless you want to play in tournaments, once you plan, buy and paint your army/fleet you don't spend anymore money on it.

Update: I now have an Avenger class Grand Cruiser and two more cruisers I am going to make into another Dominator and another Gothic. I don't believe in using Lunars... I've made my own strategies apart from the majority of Imperial players.

I also stand to recieve four Chaos cruisers and a Planet Killer. I'll try to sell the Planet Killer, but I'm going to paint the cruisers in my fleet scheme and use them. I also want to eventually get a Repulsive class Grand Cruiser, too.

@ Arpwat: Thanks. I don't think I'll be buying one any time soon...
