Personal Manifesto
Has anyone here written one? It's my final assignment for Philosophy class this year, so I was just curious if anyone else has done one in the past. It seems like you all are certainly opinionated enough. :p

Never put your personal manifesto down on paper. It can be used against you in a court of law. Just ask my buddy, Ted K.

Well, it's an assignment...so I kinda have no choice. Especially since it counts for 90% of my grade.
I'm not going to be idiotic about it...just state my personal opinions and facts to back them up.

Pragmatic, longterm, hedonism.
I know when the word hedonism is mentioned, people often think of drunken orgies. (Indeed, many people think of drunken orgies even when the word hedonism isn't mentioned.) But drunken orgies can result in diminshed pleasure the next day from a hang over, and at a later date from sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, paternity suits, dry cleaning bills, etc. Instead, I'm interested in getting the most enjoyment I can out of life for as long as I can. Helping others and contributing to the world can be part of that enjoyment. An important part of enjoying myself is taking a rational approach to life's problems so I don't upset myself needlessly. I don't think I'm enjoying myself nearly as much as I could, but I'm working on it.
I don't have one but I felt compelled to reply as the word 'manifesto' is one of my favourite words :)
The whole hedonism thing sounds good tho. I class myself as a hedonist in training...the 'in training' part relates to the fact that I have conscience :D

If you go against your conscience, you are not going to enjoy yourself, which isn't hedonism. So go ahead and proudly proclaim yourself a full fledged hedonist. If of course, that's what you'd like to do.

It's a fair point. It's just I was raised Roman Catholic so I probably have more cosncience & more random guilt about everything than is generally healthy.
But I am having a very good time all the same ;)
