It will by 99% certainty either be Sweden, Czech Republic, Canada, Russia, USA, Finland or Slovakia, but of them who will win?

Self I hope Sweden we have a good team even if we don't have all of our big stars there and we beaten Finland with a big marginal and also Canada. But there are tough competition this year.

I'll vote for the team that has one fat guy, two medium sized guys, and one skinny guy.

Sweden

I was actually in Innsbruck to watch the game against Canada on Saturday night. Canada looked good but Sweden always looked a little more in control. Still it was one hell of a game Can 4-5 Swe.

Canada went 2-0 up very quickly before Sweden pulled 1 back at the end of the 1st period. Sweden annhiliated the Canadians in the second period, totally dominating to bring them into the lead at 3-4, before both sides shared 1 goal a piece in the 3rd period to leave the game at 4-5 for sweden.

I have to say I went supporting Canada as their fans were outnumbered and very quiet. Needless to say the Swedes were as crazy as can be expected...

however i did sit next to a row of cheer leaders ( :D :D :D ) and appear on the big screen twice so its all good!

Sweden was quite impressive against Canada but yesterday they had nothing against USA. Finland played even with Canada and USA (could have won both, I still think the last goal by USA should have been disqualified) but in both cases we played against a tired team. USA Canada or Sweden will win and I chose Sweden as I always (almost) support them if Finland hasn't got any chance.

Not seen a bit of it but I'll say Russia. But has the NHL lockout caused any ring rust the USA/Canadian players any problems ?

I forgot to mention the Finns who were there! They rocked so much! It was great having all the supporters mixed in together. In the row I was in we had 2 french, 1 morroccan, 1 UK (me!), 2 swedes, 2 austrians and two Finns. Made for an interesting evening trying to talk to each other! :D

Well when the canadian team was read out there were a few players based in europe (sweden, switzerland amongst others), but there were a few from the NHL too.

Oh dear. Finnish fans. For some reason all women supporting Canada seem to be gorgeous. All men supporting USA seem to be gorgeous. Then the camera turns into Finns... Fat, half naked and drunk.

But at least they are loud too.

Actually the swedish ladies were rather nice...must be a scandanavian thing ;) :D

The Finnish fans were brilliant, even if they were all fat, drunk and nearly half naked.

Well to night you are really cheering for Sweden, but don't worry I hope and think that we easliy win beat estonia today so you don't have to worry. Well I don't belive that mutch about finland either winning the championship because they will have tough way to the finale, but they still have a change. And I think it was almost good that sweden lost against USA because it very hard to win all games (well if you don't talk about brazile and soccer) in a tournamnet, so it could be good to loose the game that don't matter.

Kellarly do you watch hockey in UK? I have hear that you actually have a league constisting of drunk canadians.

I'd like to say Sweden, but after seeing them get their röv kicked by the US the other day I'm not so sure. I just hope that will serve as a serious wake-up call.

krhm Latvia. You should beat Latvia. ;)

I was quite mad yesterday after the match. They interviewed few players and one of them explained why they couldn't make any goals. "Well we didn't really need to...even was enough for us...Sweden will save our skins..etc"
Yes, you did have to! I hope Sweden will lose today so that those arrogant brats would come back home and grow a little.

Nono, not Canadians. All those Finns and Swedes who can't get into any Finnish or Swedish team (division 3). At least few years ago all players in Manchester Storm were called Jörgenson, Petterson, Volvoson or Penttilä, Rämppälä and Pyttylä.

edit. Damn, it's not even Storm anymore. Manchester Phoenix

I remember going to a game at the MEN, Manchester Storm (ahem Phoenix) vs Sheffield Stealers. Was with a school trip as they had a promotion where you could get school kids in for half price to boost crowds. Mancs won 5-4 with two punch ups involved. Brilliant stuff.

Trouble is ice hockey just doesn't get the crowds it deserves in the UK. Which is a pity because its an amazing sport.
