NSMA Best Album Award! (Oh no it isn't! Oh yes it is!)
Random Kingdom

The last of this unholy trinity, the Christopher Eccleston of the NSMA world, the 9th (last in the 3rd wave) poll is here. Vote while you can. And if you vote "None of the above" then I will send you to the Corridor of Blades. Resistance is futile.
No, this is NOT an election. Please don't vote Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats, US Democratic or Republican, Daleks or anything like that.
The Wall - Pink Floyd
The Singles 81-85 (1998) - Depeche Mode
London Calling - The Clash
Believe - Disturbed
Nighttime Birds - The Gathering
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
OK Computer - Radiohead
All That You Can't Leave Behind - U2
The Fat of the Land - The Prodigy
Revolver- The Beatles
I predict that The Wall by Pink Floyd will win, but of course I nominated The Singles 81-85. Typical!

I voted The Wall. Not only because I'm an avid 'Floyd fan, but because it's such a damn good album, that you gotta love it. And once you understand the concept behind it, you gotta love it even more.
I agree with your prediction of The Wall winning, but that said, OK Computer and London Calling will do pretty well too.

Revolver is the best out of those. The Wall and London Calling are just behind it.

I wish I changed my nomination to Violator. Violator is the best album I've ever heard, not just because of the songs on it, but because of the way it flows...
...because all in all you're just another brick in The Wall (tm).
Hahahahahahahaaahahaha, London Calling instead of Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols?
You've gotta be kidding me.

Are you familiar with the expression 'one trick pony'?

They all suck :(
I say Kanye West's album 'College Dropout' or The Game's 'The Documentary'
Are you familiar with the expression 'one trick pony'?
Are you forgetting that the band didn't last long enough to begin recording a second album? Oh, and I'd also like to mention that the three singles after Anarchy In The U.K. were all Top 20 hits, and even the (crappy) ones after John left were Top 20's (well, Silly Thing, Friggin' In The Riggin', Something Else, and My Way were good songs, but the rest were trash).
Anyway, I'll have to vote for Revolver.

How is this meant to affect the quality of the LP?

Yeah, you're probably right about The Wall winning. That's what I voted for.
How is this meant to affect the quality of the LP?
Eh? I thought we were going on about chart positions, with the "one trick pony" expression.
Don't even start on "quality"... The LP was, and still is, exactly what it was meant to be. No other album has rivaled it in that manner. It wasn't a stuffy, arty "piece of music" like London Calling. But, if you do want to get into quality, I'll say this --- The production quality of NMTB is outstanding.
London Calling is good, yes, but as good as Never Mind The Bollocks? Haha, yeah, right. London Calling's not even as good as The Clash.

Exactly what is stuffy or arty about London Calling? Could you name a track that sums either of these qualities up so that I can understand you better?

Oh, please... From beginning to end, it's stuffy. Well, except for Death Or Glory, but then, that's borderline. It's like the record is trying to be "cool" and "complex" without it being pompous and pretentious, yet it fails. It's a mix of all four, really.

Nah. I still don't follow.

Ah, well, you'll probably see what I'm talking about someday ;).

I'm certainly not saying that the Lp is the best in the world or anything, I certainly prefer the sprawling mass of Sandinista! to it, but I wouldn't describe its failings in the same words as you. To me it suffers from a kind of flatness in the recording, despite the array of styles, a tendency towards too many conventional rock cliches and the inclusion of a couple of less than fantastic studio versions of songs which worked better in live contexts.

NMTB is an LP without contrast or variation.

Long Life to the Beatles!
Well John and John are dead, so... long life to Paul and Ringo!

The Wall is [plotwise at least] a horrible ripoff of the Who's Tommy. Completely undeserving of the title.
