Europeans are quite possibly the far superior beings.

Haven't you noticed how enlightened Europeans are? I mean its great! Its so refreshing! Here in America the only things that get done are the constant lynching and/or burning of homosexuals. In Europe however, they would die before thinking of making a rascist comment. No one ever tries to harm a being of another sexuality, race, or religious belief.

Oh no, not the Europeans. Every morning from 6-8 they all get out in a circle, hold hands and sing about how great diversity is.

And they know everyone elses lifestyle too! You know that movie the Trumen Show? Well, they have that, but instead of it being fake, its real, they select 100 people from every country and observe them. Than from every night from 6-8 they study their happenings and culture.

2) I cannot believe how much you Germans have reverted to your genocidal roots since the wall fell. I used to love Germany, especially during the winter in small towns with the spiced wine and chestnuts and friendly fun atmosphere. These days I dislike even going to the airport in Frankfurt, do you know that I have had people walk away from me when I wanted to order stuff in restaurants? Pretended as if I wasnt there and wasnt asking to order. I had to get up and walk to the bar and order because the waiter decided he could take the order from the table next to mine but was too busy for me.

Have we already mentioned their Grand Peoples Socialist Economies of the State which leave nobody hungry or out on the street, especialy all those black guys who tried to sell me stuff while I was there?
Ah, I see that we have.
Lets not forget that they were ALWAYS fair and kind to their colonies, and made sure that they were stable and could support themselves before leaving.

People from the UK and Italy are excused from my sarcasm, because people in both of those countries were actually quite nice. Greece gets honorable mention here, because a lady in an optical shop fixed by glassess for free once when some jerk ran into me and stepped on them.
Of course, people in 2/3 of those countries have no idea how to drive...
Well...maybe its just that Italians know how to drive TOO well, Greeks on the other hand cant decide which side of the road they want to drive on, or what speed, and havent quite mastered the art of the stop sign...

Did I mention already that there are no poor people in Europe at all? Especialy in any former Soviet states. In fact, there was no Soviet Union. Russia just underwent a Transitional Govornment Phase moving from a Monarchal Centrist Society into a Socialist Republican society on its way to a Mildly Politicaly-Differnt Capitolist Commonwealth of Independant States sort of thing.
And places like Bulgaria are actually very nice and dont have any terrorists in them at all.

Yeah, I am giving my personal experiences about a country I used to love going to and how it has changed. In fact, in high school I used to point out to my friends how great things were in Germany and how stupid they were in the States. Then I grew up. My friends did too. Unfortunately my friends(the German ones), well my cousins...cousins actually, still live in their parents house. Some of them actually got the jobs they were hoping for(back in the 80s) airline counter person ect. Hell lifetime employment must be great!!!!

I suppose it's human nature to associate all of a type of people with the bad apples. I imagine Americans are guilty of it as well...in fact, I guarantee that some Americans are. I refer to the ones who beat up Arabs shortly after 9/11. To them, every Arab and every Muslim caused 9/11, not just al-Qaeda. And to Europeans, every American is responsible for the U.S.'s shitty foreign policy. For that matter, that appears to be true of most of the world.

Frankly I almost dislike the assholes in the Middle East less than the ones in Europe. At least the Muslim world was open about laughing in our faces about 9/11, rather than Europe, which just laughed behind our backs at us while we were out of the room. I am hardly in favor of bombing Europe as many hard-line Americans are, but it's pretty shitty of Europe to pretend to offer sympathy to us while a hell of a lot of them think we deserved it.

All I can say about this thread is that it shows the superior complex that Europeans have had all throughout history.

It's almost a wonder that the soon-to-be Americans waited so long to break free from British Tyrrany.

The only times that Europe notices the existance of America is when Nazi troops are carpet-bombing the you-know-what out of the Brits and sipping cappacino in downtown Paris.

I'm not going to knock the Europeans all night long, because i do think that having a good running economy is a good thing... There are just bigger things to worry about right now. (i dont want feedback about the war, it's my opinion.)

I'm not saying that I don't like Europeans, there are some hot women that live in Europe, but, if a Frenchie turned his nose up to me on one of my vacations to Europe, he's going to find out what American fist tastes like.

As an anthropologist i find this whole discussion very interesting. It's the whole in-group out-group competition thing. It's all about how you define your identity.
Personally I fully acknowledge that I am biased against Americans simply through comparison of recent election results. Across Europe there is a movement towards a broadrer system in which even minorities have their say. Across America there has always been a tendency towards a very strict 2 party system which makes for a very bland election in which everyone must give up some of their principals for the greater good.

I think that all of you people who really think that know anything about each other are just totally disconnected. On one hand the american people unfortunately are dulled by the media that is making America more isolated in the way that people think. On the other hand Europeans in general are as bad or as good as Americans when it comes to judging and talk about the americans. I am an European living in the US and frankly I find that both parties have great things that should borrow from each others culture. And when it comes to saying smelly french, or racist germans, or undecided greeks please look at the equatorial american belly's "fat" or self righteous unmistakable 'men/women of the Lord'. So please leave the b.s. behind and keep a humble attitude when you talk about other cultures that you don't know sh.t or little about, be it american, european or asian for that matter. So don't be so obtuse and create excuses for shortcommings of your governments.

And yes americans don't know much about spelling some countries name or for that matter don't know much about geography. You can't blame them it is probably the mass media that really has got it wrong in the way that they talk about what happens in the world (i.e. in a 30min news program you get 15 min of ads and 5 min of announcements and 10 min about Michael Jackson trial.) To me a society that is driven by trial news is not better than the lawyers in it. Anyway Europeans on the other side might be more philosophical because of the sense of a few thousand years of culture and history compared to the american bicentennial history but sometimes selfcomplacency on both sides of the atlantic is b.s. since you really can't go far in history while critisizing people and being stuck in a circular reasoning that does not bring nothing but fallacious arguments on the plate for each side. So please don't talk about EU or US when you know that it is not the people who screw up the relations between countries, rather the political clique that is so self absorbed and so self admiring on both sides of the Atlantic.

Last time I was in Europe, I found the people very friendly and understanding that you can't judge an entire country on it's president. Just like here, most Americans aren't xenophobic pricks.

So I offer a solution. I saw we take all the psycho conservative, bible thumping, Ameica praising, Bush voting Americans, as well as the dangerously liberal, Bush-bashing, America hating Europeans, and throw them into a small room together, letting them eat each other alive. Problem solved.

Now, all that aside we come done to European attitudes and American when it comes to doing/dealing with stuff in the world.

Since the end of the cold war, I am sorely disapointed with "some" of the attitudes emminating from Europe. Mostly French and German. Its a sad state of affairs when the US views Russia as a closer ally than France and Germany. We have so much history, and its being thrown away by a few nationalistic politicians(hint, it isnt Bush thats causing the strife). Schroeder and Chirac were elected on anti American platforms. 1 of them before the Iraq war.

the power balance is shifting in the world, its a shame that Europe and America no longer find themselves to be as friendly as they were before.

Lets face reality though, America had to adapt to an Asian powerhouse in the 80s, If Europe doesnt adapt now, well... it will be as irrelevant as it is appearing to be.

I love Paris and Parisians. If you are polite to them and speak French, they will be wonderful back. They have never been anything else with me. Most often I hear this Paris bashing from Americans. Trust me when I say that the Americans that come to Paris do not convey a pleasant picture. Often they are incredibly rude, loud and don't seem to have even the most basic understanding of French (and Parisian) social codes and etiquette.

Both Europe and the US have people who need a good dose of reality. I am American by Birth, but I am world person, and tend to see things how they are, not how an "American" should. I think President Bush is one of the most destructive presidents in American History. Both Politically, Millitaristically, and economically. Not to mention He SUCKS at Foreign Affairs. First he has that horrible Texas Accent, and he doesn't know how to talk to people, he doesn't know how to kindly persuade the masses, but he is especially good at turning one off and getting some of our oldest allies and the rest of the world to hate us.

I would like to think that once you get to know some Europeans they aren't really that bad. Just like MOST americans aren't bad.

Here in the South for instance, there are some really kind, mannerly, respectable people. Its the way were are raised. We are generally conservative to moderate. With the exception of the shorts wearing, beer drinking rednecks, we tend to appreciate Europe. In the revolution is was mostly the northerners, those damn pilgrims and puritans that were raising hell over the British taxes. I personally think that if you look at it the way Great Britain did, they had a right to tax us. THey fought saving our ass. France helped us when the revolution. I think some have forgotten that they were our first ally. Given not because they really cared. They just hated England. I thought it was a shame how quickly people became anti-French, led by Bush, after they refused to help us in the war.

Half of the country is against the war, so people of the world dont be mislead by that Texas Jackass of a President we have with the terrible accent. Most of us are really good people, and mean well.

Yes, we are better at that than you, even though you try your hardest, bless your cotton socks.

You guys are more sophisticated and everything. and dont get me wrong. I love you.(history freak, love all things old and european) I also wish that we were more refined, and had more culture and all that fancy spancy stuff. But we are a fairly young nation and we missed the thousand year headstart you all had.

But you thinking you are better is ludacris. I just praised you, but lets be real.

The Americans have a unique style and its not all that bad. Not to mention we have more money, bigger guns, and more power. You aren't better than us. You may like to think so, but get your head out of your ass.

*That was my patriotic comment for today*

I love your culture, but that kind of attitude stinks.

The only things "supeiror" about Europeans are their arrogance, their haughtiness, and their distain. I wouldn't be a European if my life depended on it.
Did you just say that? How sweet it must be you never have to be an European.............

Everyone has their problems.
-The French came very close to electing xenophobe reactionary Jean-Marie LePen a few years back.
-The Italians elected Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Rupert Murdoch.
-The killing of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh.
-The continued Czech refusal to recognise the legitimate complaints of ethnic Germans relocated from the former Czechoslovakia.
-The Turkish refusal to acknowledge their part in the Armenian Genocide.

The list goes on. Americans, Europeans, Asians ... we've all screwed up, I'm afraid. There is no civilisation on this earth that gets a free-pass to any sort of title of 'enlightened' or 'cultured' or 'nonviolent.'

I got to go to Ireland last summer and I thought it was beautiful. The people there were really funny and had a great sense of humor. What impressed me most, though, was the deep sense of culture. To walk down a road that has been a road for hundreds of years, is an amazing thing.

What shocked me the most, though, is that they would not believe I was American. I am from the southern United States, Mississippi. Not only could they not place my accent, they were utterly astounded by my polite manners and made many comments on them. They also thought Mississippi was in the middle of the country somewhere! I grew up on the bayous with Alligators and Hurricanes.

I always thought it odd that there was so much tension between our cultures, now I am no longer surprised.

I would like to find the Americans who are rude to other people and tell them to stop ruining our reputation. Most Americans work for a living and don’t have the money to travel across the Atlantic. I guess that means that you get a lot of the lazy nasty people traveling, which is kind of sad.

This thread began so well and very funny, typical it descended to the usual NS cock-size row.

OK, I'm a European as well, but hey as much as I dislike bush, I know that not all americans are "bad". I've actually met a couple really nice, really smart people from US.

Now about Europe missing out countries like Bulgaria or Albania, well Bulgaria is going to enter EU in 2007 and Albania is in the area where economy is still developing those things just don't change over night, so to say that the rest of Europe is missing them out is just un-fair a lot of countries are starting to invest in the Balcans, so the differences are shrinking. Ow and yes Finland is quite developed :)

And for once it's good to be from a small nation that was oppressed during most of it's history (Slovenia that is), and excluding the after wwII trials and killings, we don't have much on our hands. So if you ask me, I'm proud to be a Slovenian and with it European, but that doesn't mean that I'm superior (trying to stick to the priciple of coltural-relativism)

On a scale from 1 to Nintendo, I grade this troll/bait a failed Virtua Boy.

Hmm...I love that scale. I'll be stealing that now, thanks.

And don't forget, they have solved their ecological problems and have powerhouse, world dominating economies with low unemployment to boot!

Yes we do have low unemployment, no we havent solved all our ecological problems but we are doing far better than America.

They let everyone have a perfectly equal voice in the EU without certain groups or nations, France or Germany for example, dominating the EUian government!

Do you know anything about the EU? Obviously not so I will now explain. In the European commision every nation has the same ammount of commisioners. In the European Parliament the seats are divided up according to population of nation. In the Council of Ministers, again equal representation.

After reading the preceeding posts, my head aches. How sickening to read all the pointless rantings of impotent little shrikes.
How unhappy you must be with yourselves. What absolute retarded and humiliating trash. You've all made terrible examples of whom you would represent. A group of dopey, braying jackasses. Arrogant, smug and pathetic.

Happy Mother's Day.
