The Coalition in Iraq is fighting Jihadists from Jordan, Syria, Pakistani and other Islamic countries as well as a vast minority of Shia led by Muqtada al Sadr in Baghdad. Abu Masab Zarqawi, head of al Qaeda in Iraq, is a devout Jihadist as well. These loose groups wage war upon the newly elected Iraqi government and Coalition troops on the basis of them being infidels and apostates. If only one side is fighting for reasons of religion does this make it a religious war?
