It's quite well done for a fake. I expect a lot of people would be suckered in.

That's pretty cool, actually.

I mean, if it was happening here, that would be shitty, but since it's in Cambodia, it's nifty.

I know! It was so utterly fantastic that for it to be fake...
Well, I just don't know how I'll go on, honestly.

I say we band together, and really DO create our own zombies. That'll show them. That'll show them...

The parasitic disease is present in 90 countries and infects one in 10 of the world's population - mainly people living in Africa, India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Colombia and the Solomon Islands. There are four main types of malaria, all spread via mosquitoes.
Most people survive a bout of malaria after a 10-20 day illness, but it is important to spot the symptoms early. The first is high fever, followed a few hours later by chills. Two to four days later, this cycle is repeated.
The most serious forms of the disease can affect the kidneys and brain and can cause anaemia, coma and death.

Interesting, too bad the search function is down so you can't find any of this information. *cough*
But you did manage to catch a lot of eyes with this article, good job.

I used a REAL URL from the BBC website as the text that made the link look legit (other than the layout of the actual 'article'). The link I used was to a meningitis outbreak news report in the BBC's 'South Asia' section. It is the only legit thing about this thread :D

However, the HTTP address I used under the clicky was

http://65.127.124.62/south_asia/4483241.stm.htm

which is obviously NOT a BBC address.

I was waiting a month to do this. I'm happy people enjoyed it. :)

Feel free to fool others in the same way. Good pranks should be passed on.
