What makes life worth living?

What in your life makes it worth this 100 years from Eternity?

For me, it's Videogames. Hours of mindless fun... oh wait, thats rather pointless. :D

Oh yes, and the possibility of sex.

What makes your life worth it?

This isn't a complete answer but, for me, if this is all there is & when we're dead that's it, then I want to get the most out of what's going on so that, if I do have time to reflect before I die, I can look back on my life & be proud & happy with what I did with it.

That & the possibility of sex, of course ;)

To be honest I refuse to believe that this is it. There must be somthing else after life. Eternity is just impossible for the human brain to comprehend.

And I see we both seek the same goal. :D

Hmm, the hope that i can be a positive influence, even if it's only in a smalll way, on the world around me. The thought of having kids in the future. Starting medical practice! It's exciting.... (I know, weirdo...)

And of course, looking forward to the next time I have sex. ;)

Lots and lots of things, more than I can mention here! :D

Children, grandchildren, the look in the eyes of a woman who truly loves you, old dogs who know your moods and try to comfort you when you're upset, Carolina Summers, cats who make an exception to their "I'm totally indifferent to people" mood just for you, the mountains, the beach, wise older people who know you're being an idiot but refrain from mentioning it to you unless you ask them, the incredible beauty of a mother with her small child, a really good wine, steak, pizza and beer, Southern cooking, Italian food, Chinese food, Japanese food, Thai food, a really great book that you actually learn something from, soft Summer nights, long slow intense sex with someone about whom you really care, really cold Winters with snow, an intense political debate with good friends who have a beer together afterward, the deep admiration and respect for those who offer their lives that others might live, the exploration of space, the study of the universe. Hell, who am I kidding? I just love life ... period! What an incredible, almost unbelievable privelidge just to have been alive! :)

First of all, it's way better than the alternative, in my eyes. Secondly, as far as I believe, we only get one shot at this, so why not get as much out of it as you can? I don't really see the question as "what makes life worth living", more "why would I want it to end?" I'm not pessimistic or a suicidal, and I definitely like life, I just want to see everything it has to offer before I move off to the next thing. Besides, it'd be a silly thing to quit the whole life thing before I go through with my sex change. Spent the last six years building up to start going through with it, I'll be damned if I'm giving up now! :D

Computer games and books are good filler til then though. Sex is utterly uninteresting to me, so I have to fill my procrastination time doing something else. (Also long term relationships would be a bad thing to embark on, considering the above.)

What makes life worth living?
In my case, its seeing my children happy with themselves and what they've done. My 12 year old playing "Fur Elise" on the piano. My 6 year old kicking my ass fair and square as chess or battleship. My 15 mo old saying a new word then repeating it excitedly because she knows its right.
To me, its mainly family now.

Aside from that, at the end of the day, sitting on a deck I built, smoking a cigar and sipping a scotch next to a content wife I've been with for 20 years. And she can still stand me.

I'd have to say... having my kids hug me and cuddle with me. Having them want to spend time with me. Going on an adventure with my children. Playing in the snow. Spending time with my best friend. Going to a good movie and being able to laugh out loud. Having friends on the net. Sitting outside on a nice, breezy summer day. Hanging out with my dad.

And hopefully someday, finding the man of my dreams who loves and cares for me as much as I do for him. The classic knight in shining armor... I know it is an unrealistic goal... but, it could happen! :D

Well-its at those times, when things slow down a bit and its quiet that you actually say to yourself- "Yeah-things are good". And for me, a good cigar and a scotch are enjoyed when everything else is in order-for the time being. And there's a chance to clear your head and reflect.

Indubitably. That's not such an issue with me these days, but was when I was younger, particularly when I was working full time and working on my MA full time, plus trying to help raise five kids. Not much time to breathe, actually.

I dont know how you managed 5 children. I have my hands full with three.
I guess once you have them, you dont have any choice but to handle them.
My older son is actually starting to help out in many areas and its making a difference.
