A "Rock" transformer?

okay, so my mother just cleaned out her basement to sell her house, and she sent me a bag of old toys that she found. Some of these are 20 years old or more, and I'm having fun going through them, but I'm a bit puzzled.
Why did I buy a transformer that transforms into...a rock? I mean, the cars and jets were wicked cool, the dinosaurs and insects were neat. But, this thing transforms from a robot into a big lumpy grey stone. Camoflauge, I guess...
Still, at least I got a good haul of my old stuff. Boba Fett and a stormtrooper (just think, we had no idea then), some old Captain Power guys, a bunch of G.I. Joes with the thumbs busted off, even an old Crystar figure. At first it took me a bit to figure out who the guy was in the loincloth and turban, then I remembered it was an old Indian Jones figure, the swordsman that he shoots in the market place. Without the swords and the cloth black robe, he really just looks like a big angry dude with a loincloth and a turban. Even an old R2-D2 with its decals rotted like papyrus found under somebody's tomb.
I never realized it, but Yoda's got a look on his face like he's drunk and just threw up a little into his own mouth, but thinks its funny.
What do you guys think, whats the coolest toy line from your childhood?

When we moved into our current house 10 years ago, we checked out the attic-and found a huge AT-AT walker toy. Now that rocked. We've still got it-I keep it in me wardrobe.
Best find 'o me life.

Yeah that's the old TO-5782B "Rock Model". It was promptly removed from the production lines because Decepticons just shot at rocks for fun...thus eliminating the purpose of the camoflauge.

I've got a pic at home-I'll see if I can get it scanned here tomorrow. ;)
That would be a character from the Gobots movie Challange of the Rock Lords. It was a straight to video release, if I remember correctly.
The last old toy that I had was Double Dealer the mercenary Powermaster transformer. I lost its gun/ intermediate range nuclear ballistic missile and its Decepticon engine. However, its Autobot engine could be used to transform it into both modes.

yeah, the AT-AT was sweet. It had the nifty little lever in it so you could make the head swivel around, and shoot the little lite-up plastic cannons. I do remember my dog being displeased, I think she thought it was competition. Or just noisy, I dunno.
this is going a bit further back, but did anybody have the Death Star playset, with the little styrofoam trash bits to go in the compactor, and the big elevator shaft which doubled as the tractor beam power coupling?
I knew it was quite superior to my step-sister's Barbi Dreamhouse. Her playset didn't come with a planet-wasting cannon on the roof, heh.

Are you certain it's a Transformer? Does it have decals or something that identifies it as a Transformer? Cause if it doesn't, I'd be willing to bet it's a "Rock Lord"...those were mildly popular, and they were all rocks that turned into big mean man-type things...fun stuff.
They even made a cross-over animated film featuring the Rock Lords and the Go-Bots....
...heh, Go-Bots...what a terrible ripoff :p
EDIT: It seems Karas has beaten me to the punch... :p
Does anyone else remember Dino-Riders???
Come on...Dinosaurs, aliens and futuristic high-powered weaponry...how could anyone not love that?? :D

Dear God, Go-Bots. Knock-off Transformers made mostly of STEEL! as opposed to plastic. Yeah, that was a brilliant idea... solid steel projectiles.

ah, the Gobots...now I remember, Cykill vs. Leader One...I never had any of the Powermaster transformers, the last one I had turned from a train to a space shuttle to a robot. I was impressed.

I was all Legos and Hot Wheels. I didn't get any really cool toys (well, aside from Hot Wheels and Legos). I guess the only real standout was the Shogun Warrior, and I don't even remember how I got him. A buddy had an Alien and a ROM figure (lollipop for anyone who remembers ROM). We made them fight like the Alien was a Brood.
I found an old Cylon fighter and somehow came to own Darth Vaders Tie Fighter. Since the Tie's panels popped off it was the one that always lost the fight.
Though most of my wars where between two different lego armadas.
My little brother was littered with toys. I would take half of them and then battle with him for control of the hallway. Results where always inconclusive. It was always a hodge podge of He-Man, G.I. Joe and Transformers-the big three (no Thundercats...sorry)

You would be my hero. (Tomorow of course, Tink already won the Hero of the day award for today)

Dang I love legos...when I was in Japan, one of the skyscrapers had an entire floor that was a lego store...what I loved about legos was, it didn't matter if the instructions were in Japanese, because they were pictures, heh.
Ah, He-Man. I always felt like a little bit of a perv 'cause I thought Teela was a fox.

Legos rule! I got a different Castle-type lego set for every Christmas and birthday for probably 10 years. I still have most of them stashed away somewhere in the basement...although I doubt any of them could still be considered "intact" by any stretch of the imagination.

I remember Dino-Riders. I never got to see the show or own the toys, but I was excited by the hype.
Now, the wisdom of putting high-powered weaponery on realitivly fleshy dinosaurs is lost on me. One would think that the poor thunderlizards would be dying left and right.
Does anyone remember Centuries. Now, those were the most interesting toys. I own all of the original Centurians with a couple of different weapons packages. I had a Doc Torror as well but did have the flight attachment.

I would be lying if I said I didn't occasionally linger a little too long when placing the Teela figure. And the Baroness, for some reason. Hasn't shaped my adult tastes really, which I think says a lot about 'that time in a boys life.'

Heh - we all get crushes on cartoon characters. People just refuse to admit it, thinking it's wrong. Ive had them.

Lego,
Action Men,
Starwars playsets (totally awesome x-wing and tie fighter toys),
Subeutio (damn that was cool),
Scaletrix,
Transformers,
I didn't know anyone that didn't have some sort of Power ranger toy.

I remember pine cones, sticks and pretty stones...
I never had a teela but I did have an Evil Lyn. Teela has nothing on Evil Lyn. As the old saying goes "Good Girls go to Heaven but Bad Girld go Everywhere".

There's a great bit in one of the new Transformers comics where you can see a pair of old Go-Bots dying in the smelting pools in the background. In fact, come to think of it, there's a lot of Go-bot insulting in the new Transformers stuff... :D
Hasbro bought the rights to the Gobots some time ago. The Gobots brand has been re-released as the toddler version of Transformers. No big Cybertronian war, just pre-school safe adventures.
Also, Armada Megatron's minicon was Leader One.
Minicon parner is one step away from plasure-slave.....
There are plenty of Gobots referances and putdowns because Hasbro can get away from it now.

Heck yeah, saw it with my friend Bobby. We were blown away. Even the cheesy music seemed cool. Just the sheer scope of it, and the fact that there was death, made it seem more serious than the little half hour bits we were used to. I think I'll see if I can find it on DVD.
