Really, this is what it all comes down to.

So, ATi or NVidia?

(oops, heh. the poll died)

I've met some guys who worked at ATI. They buy NVidia cards.

You really can't go wrong with either of the most recent models. At most you will get a couple more frames per second at high resolutions. Other components, like memory and motherboard will influence your performance more than the make of the videocard.

I like ATI's hardware... but I like nVidia's software.

I've only had two graphics cards in my life, and they were one of each. NVidia 64MB GeForce 4 MX420, which I could play DooM 3 on low, 640x480 w/ 10-20 FPS(Fine for me), and PowerColor ATi 256MB DDR Radeon 9600 Pro w/ TV out, which plays DooM 3 on High, 800x600, with everything but AA and AF(Which don't matter for me) at 50-60 FPS. Both were/are 4x AGP. Guess which one I liked better? But those cards are completely different generations of GFX cards, so it's a dumb comparison.

Driver convience, NVidia is probably the way to go. But for sexy new hotness or All-in-Wonder style, ATI is the shizznat.

Currently? A GeForce 6800 GT is the way to go. PCI 16X, damnit!

Well my X800 XT was the business when I bought it, but sadly the 6800 Ultra is performing better atm.
