Last night, for the first time since since 1993, Cream played live in concert. After reading the reviews and looking at a few photos, two questions spring to mind:
When's the DVD coming out?
Does Ginger Baker look half dead or is it just the lighting?

the guy hes going with got into the Albert Hall yesterday through a friend because they thought the soundcheck might be on and they were bored....it was more than a soundcheck. they were practicing. so he saw them practice yesterday, and hes seeing them tonight.

All I can say here is that it is a great pity that the last time Clapton played an interesting note was back in 1966 when he was still with The Bluesbreakers.

Yeah: I'm not saying the Cream stuff is worthless, but it doesn't match up to the searing earlier guitar work he did. As a band they are fine, but Clapton just doesn't produce the same excitement with them as far as I am concerned.

True, after Cream split he never quite got back to his best, but that said, how many guitarists really stay at their creative best all the way through their careers?

Ah yes, but the real irony here is that he is best remembered in popular cultural for drivel like Beautiful Tonight and its tiresome ilk, whereas his spells with The Bluesbreakers and (to a less interesting extent) The Yardbirds remain of minority appeal and are little heard in comparison.

Cream is back? CREAM??? OMG! They were one of my favorite groups many years ago. Of course, no one can catch "The Grateful Dead," but Cream came close. :D

Yeah, not good, and he is suffering from arthritis too.
I knew one band where the durmmer had arthritis, and his hands would lock around the sticks and he would be unable to put them down, the bassist was allergic to his strings, and a rash would slowly spread up his arm as they played, and the singer would go temporarily blind and have blackouts while singing. The guitarist meanwhile used to just lean back on his cab and smile while thinking 'fuck yous, I'm doing fine here'.

With a build up like that they had to have a comic name of some sort...

'fraid not - Sedition - a pretty good scottish hardcore band from the late 80s/early 90s.

They truly were one of the greatest of all time. I have a whole bunch of the old 8-track tapes of them. I'm not hoping 8-track comes back ( the tapes wore out far too quickly, and I'm glad CDs are the default now ), but I keep them mostly for sentimental value. I also have two reel-to-reel tapes of theirs in storage, but I suspect the tape has deteriorated a bit by now.
Life can be so cruel ... so ... ephemeral. "Just open up your mouth and spit!" :D
