Cloning, Good or Bad

Both sides have a great argument and I am having trouble deciding...

Argument A: "It's really very exciting," says lab head Thomas Wall. "Until now, we've kept very quiet, to avoid being targeted by lunatic fringe groups who for some reason think it's wrong to clone human embryos. It's too early to promise anything, but we hope that one day we will have genetic cures for a whole range of debilitating illnesses. I certainly hope the government will support our work."

Argument B: "Well, if you have to be part of a lunatic fringe group to object to this barbaric practice, I'm a lunatic," says placard-waving protestor May Love. "Of course it would be nice to cure these unnamed diseases, but at what cost? They're messing with the sanctity of human life. It's wrong, and the lab should be shut down immediately."

Help would be appreciated

Oh, you mean for the NS Issues? Or in real life?
Because in real life I have no problem with therapudic clonning (cloning of individual organs), but full-blown human cloning I still have concerns about

Everybody knows that clones will go crazy and start randomly murdering people. I mean, it's in EVERY action/horror movie. How could it not be true?
:D

To be serious, it's a bit tough to tell you which side to choose based only on the text when we don't know much about your nation. What you should choose really depends on how you want to run things.

For my nation, I dismissed the issue, basically from a right-to-life viewpoint of: shouldn't kill the embryos, but no problem if they already happen to be dead (miscarriage even. Whatever.) So I didn't find the question precise enough to be able to choose one way or the other for my nation.

x2, but I think it would be better to have Universal-Soldier like clones to fight wars and stuff, if they die then it won't be that bad because they had no family or friends in the first place, and I'm not sure the mothers who would recieve the telegrans saying that their son John Doe #1-103,452 was killed in Iraq/Afganistan/The Dining Room with the dagger by Colonel Mustard.
But then there's the possibility that they disobey orders and rampage, or turn off. And the fact that they may have souls, or be saved because they followed a religion etc, depending on what you believe. Then there are the protestors saying that they are treated like slaves and should be treated the same as a born human rather than made human. Ah, what the hell, just scrap that project and use robots. If anything, we should be able to clone organs and tissue to see the effects of what diseases do, to find cures to them and so that people with bad organs or in need of a skin graft can get one and be healthy again. But of course, we shouldn't clone the brain, that is essentially "what we are" and cloning that would be practically cloning another human being, but cloning other individual body parts is just that - parts, like for a car.

Wow, that's quite evil. Forcing an intelligent and living human being to become a soldier wheter they want to or not, and enforcing that they have no friends or anything?

A clone is simply a genetic copy of another person. They are, of themselves, intelligent and self-aware, and will develop different personalities based on how they are brought up, as nurture does have an effect on people. Clones are people too.

Fear of cloning is just fear of the unknown!
