Where is the best stinkin place in the world, and why?

Boston, Massachusetts, without question.

New Jersey. It's the best because it's conveniently located between New York City and Philadelphia, has a nice sea shore, forests, farmland, and cities. We have weird local legends (see the link in my sig). We also have a good mix of all nationalities. You can find specialty restaurants and stores that carry items from all over the world.

Also in some places it does stink. Around the oil refineries, chemical plants, and landfills in particular. So there you go. It's the best stinking place in the world.

I would have to vote Canada or Antarctica.

Touche. Haha... I'd have to say I'm a big fan of Washington State in the US... all 23 ecospheres *and if I sound totally dumb saying that, it's only because I'm reciting it from something I think I remember hearing in middle school science class* but mostly because it has everything. other than that, I've been to Canada, Brazil and Greece, and have had an emergency plane landing in Ireland... and I'm fond of all those places, but only certian parts of them so far. Currently looking into moving to Canada or New Zealand for school. I REALLY want to go to New Zealand.

What part?
I've been to ireland once with my best mate (him and his family go over multiple times a year and they're moving over there sometime in the next year or two). We stayed in the south bit, can't remember the name, but THE south-most point with the lighthouse wasn't that far away. Ireland is truely a beautiful country.

I 'worked' in the university of Thessaloniki, but I had to visit Athens like once a week. Got to travel the islands extensively. It was quite nice, although I have to say the sun is a killer for a blonde Finn like me.
Great gig, we rode the bus for 7 hours up to Thessaloniki from athens, and then we were told that the beaches were 45 minutes away, 2 hours later we got to one, and then the next day we went out to Halkidiki *hmm, I suppose I butchered that*, and that was 4 hours each way! I think I enjoyed Thessaloniki better, we went to this fantastic ouzorie there.

Must have been off the coast of Cork. You picked a very pretty area to visit. I'd suggest Kerry - Killarney and Galway as some of the most beautiful parts and Co. Clare and the Burren as some of the wildest and untouched by modern civilisation, it's so strange and alien landscape like out there!

Heh. It's the Halkidiki peninsular, so you didn't butcher that too bad... it still lives. There's three 'fingers' in that peninsular area, so great beaches-a-plenty. Near the village of Gritsa there's this great beach for naturists... tons of Italian and Eastern-European girls in the nude... what was the topic of this thread again...hmmm? :)

Rome is lovely, but I think Delphi wins for me because of the power of the experience.

We were on the far side of the second finger. Beautiful! When were you there?

Bummer.

I have to say the single most spectacular place in Greece for me is Meteora. Google up pictures of it. It's this 'mountain park'. Breathtaking.

However, the best place of all is home, wherever that may be.That's probably the best possible answer to this question.

To me, home is a big city. I love the countryside, the mountains, deserts, smalltown life, etc. -- but only for a short while.

Until maybe I retire to the country and grow cabbages like Diocletian, I can't imagine myself living continously without the hustle and bustle of a big city. Nowadays, a city of several million is a nexus of all the cultures you can possibly imagine, all of the possibilities, day and night, so many people, so much life...

Not only is this where I want to live, as close as possible to the core of a megapolis but, more importantly and in militant opposition to the trend of moving to the suburbs after getting married, this is where I want to raise children. All of the information being exchanged, the fast rate of life, all of the different things going on, in my opinion, contribute far better to the development of a young mind than the sheltered homogeneity of a tepid, suburban life.

I don't know, when I was a girl growing up *man, I say that like I'm old, but I'm only 21* in the country I learned to do things with my hands, like... well, hmm, maybe I shouldn't say, because then I'll sound like some hick, but... regardless, I learned lots of practical things. And now with a little help I could provide for any basic need, like grow my own food, build a house, make clothing... I LOVE the city though, I love the culture, and I love the food, and all the things to do, but when it comes right down to it, I'd rather the quiet of the country for my down time.
