I chose the second option. It's the patriotic duty of every citizen to remain loyal to his nation and try to improve it. If you see your government doing something you don't approve of you must work within the system to correct the problem.

Dissent is seldom unpatriotic. It's the dissenters that have moved my nation foreward. Abolitionists, civil rights activists, union organizers, and suffragetes (sp?) have dragged the USA, often against the will of the majority, to a higher level of fairness, equality and justice.
But giving aid and comfort to the enemy like Jane Fonda did was just wrong. You want to change the country, you work within the country. Don't support the country's enemies.
