I just read this interesting article on the new pope. Although I personally think it's a load of bull, it's still a pretty interesting read:

I am personally a spirit-filled christian. I do indeed believe the end will come before this generation passes away. It's been prophesied in my church. Great things are going to happen soon.

But Benedict XVI isn't of the Benedictine Order; he simply chose the papal name Benedict.

I had a dream about talking to God so yeah I believe it. And I can't wait, I couldn't bare this stupidity much longer..

Most Christians call the dream blasphemous and herectic and that is was probably one of Satan's tricks, so I just won't tell you out of wanting to keep this topic flame free. (I'll just say it has alot to do with The Necrononicon and at the time I didn't even know what that was..)

Just know the devil isn't some facless being out to screw you over every step of the way.
And God isn't some bearded dude up in a sky of clouds and rainbows where fairies giggle and children frolic.

Remember folks. If you truely believe that the world is going to end, don't forget to give all your goods to the poor. That will be a good deed that will ensure that you'll get into heaven, while the poor who accept the goods will be commiting the sin of greed, which will keep the riff-raff out of heaven.

Then again, you could read a bit of history and find out about what a lot of Christians thought at the end of the first millenium. The world didn't end then, despite a lot of people believing that it would. I think that anyone who has faith that the world is going to end soon will have to explain why their faith is better and more reliable than the faith of Christians in the past.

Erm... no offense, peeps, but Christianity is an apocalyptic religion at its core. It is absolutely impossible to name any time in the past two thousand years when at least some christians weren't convinced that the end was nigh. Seriously, as soon as Jesus died there was probably some guy marching around with a sign shouting "the end is near! Repent!"
