I just wanted to bring the hunt to the attention of the fun-loving General forum, since I think it will appeal to many of you.

As some of you may know, NationStates now has a Treasure Hunt, which occurs twice a month on Saturdays. The next treasure hunt (number 6) takes place on SATURDAY, APRIL 30TH at 2:00 p.m. EDT (6pm GMT), and we'd like to invite you to participate.

Basically, you get to show off your smarts and awesome Google skills by answering riddles and racing through NationStates. It's a lot of fun, and the winner even gets a prize! (a download worth up to $50 in value)

To play, you must create a nation with Hunter in its name and send it to Treasure Island on the day of the Hunt.

And here are the rules, in case you would like to know more:

1. Only nations with the name "HUNTER" somewhere in their title may take part in the Hunt. This is necessary in order to confirm participation.

2. You MUST travel through EACH of the "clue regions" before traveling to the "prize" region and posting the winning message. This is also necessary to verify participation in the Hunt.

3. You MUST telegram the nation HUNT MASTER after posting the winning message. This is a necessary step to confirm the post time of the winning nation.

4. The FIRST nation to enter the prize region, post the winning message on the Civil HQ/Regional Message Board AND telegram HUNT MASTER wins the Hunt. This will be determined by the time noted on the post and the telegram. No exceptions.

5. BEWARE OF COATTAIL RIDERS! These are nations that will sit back and wait for clues to various regions to be solved and then simply follow. This provides them a tactical advantage because they may be able to solve the following clue faster than you! The point is to time your movements into the clue regions and prize region carefully.

and finally,

6. Remember to simply HAVE FUN! The Hunts have been designed to challenge and excite you, and are here for your enjoyment. The winner WILL be awarded his or her prize ($50.00 download limit,) so have fun and go for the gold!

Wow. It's hard to tell people about something that is really fun when they don't even read the post!

Oh well.

I can't claim the idea myself, actually, but my region (Wysteria) is hosting it this time, and I've personally come up with about 80% of the clues.

So I'm hoping to get good participation. I even sent an email to Max to tell him about it and invite him to play, since he seems to enjoy hearing about the unusual ways we think of to play. :)

This should be stickied.

That would be overkill, I think. Perhaps we could add info about the hunt to an already existing sticky, one of the ones that's always getting new people directed to it.

I should add that this hunt is outside of the normal every-two-week rotation, because of an foul-up last weekend. So, there is a hunt on Saturday the 30th, another on the following Saturday (May 7th) and then it's back to the two week rotation for the next hunt (May 21).
