Well, the mods haven't DEAT'ed any of my Music Award threads yet, so I suppose things are going well. If I did all of them tonight, then they probably would DEAT. :D

Thak you RK :)
No, thank you Niini! Finally I have a quoted compliment! I am now an official NS'er! :p

*whines, whinges* Uh...TWO SP songs, and a Disturbed song? No Nirvana? :p

Wow, two Pumpkins songs. A nice selection, although one has to wonder about the lack of any Beatles.

I voted for Zeppelin because even though that's not my favourite song of theirs, they're the best band ever, so you understand I really didn't have any choice.

Foo Fighters namely Everlong
Smashing Pumpkins Tonight

Everlong was what I was thinking of.

For SP, I'm not sure. Both songs are probably worthy enough to survive in a thread like this, but having 2 of them? And where's Home Again :D?

What the hell is U2 doing up there? U2 sucks! Get rid of that crap in favor of Mr. Crowley.

Voted Freebird.

What interesting choices, these songs don't usually make the "best of" type of threads. I'm assuming that the people who nominated these songs nominated them based on what they like to listen to, without wondering about the influence or creativity of the songwriters. Personally, I think that's the way it should be done, I think people vote on songs based upon their influence way too often, when the songs themselves should be considered on their own merits. So I am all for this type of nominating procedure.

Anyway, I chose "Cherub Rock" for purely sonic aesthetic reasons, though I could've easily picked "Bullet With Butterfly Wings."

These lists make baby Jesus cry. These songs are horrible.

Except a Day in the Life, Free Bird, and the U2 tune to a slightly lesser extent. The rest of these are goddamn garbage.

The choices were pretty crappy.

Anyway, I voted for the Achilles Last Stand. You just can't beat Led Zeppelin.

The list should be entirely composed of Led Zeppelin songs. Nothing else compares. I'm a bit partial to Kashmir myself. I'm suprised there's no Stairway!

Instead of that U2 track I'd sooner have Sunday Bloody Sunday, and the Meatloaf I'd sooner have Paradise by the Dashboard Light.

Given all the bands there are in the world, why 2 Smashing Pumpkins tracks? You're missing the Kinks...the Blue Öyster Cult... Rush...

interestingly enough, at the moment, u2, ledzep, and beatles each have 6 votes. they're all consecutive in descending order,s o if you look down you see a... 666.

Is that not enough proof of rocknroll's evilness?

It's at the very least disrespectful to Nirvana.

Dave Grohl went off and did his own thing. What's wrong with that?

It's like saying that having Led Zeppelin on the list is disrespectful to the Yardbirds.

Well, I agree Nirvana were better, but the Foos are still a good band and have some awesome songs, eg. "I'll Stick Around"

Discuss. :DNot a bad list. While you didn't pick the best songs by each group, you at the very least mentioned them. Though I haven't heard "God is on the Radio" or "Five To One" so I can't say if they're any good.

Hmm, I stand by my choices. In particular, Holiday in Cambodia was the first DK's song I heard and got me into the band so it has a special spot there.

Weezer, Zeppelin and The SPs were tough calls, though....

But nothing beats the Muddy Banks version of Aneurysm, IMHO.

I know what you mean. "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" was the first Smashing Pumpkins song I heard, so I have a soft spot for it.
