Do You Feel Detached?

Even when I debate about issues that are extremely important to me, I feel detached from the entire debate. I just don't care. Who else is feeling detached from everything/something/most things?

Do you feel sad or hopeless? Do you feel isolated by the detachment? Do you have low self esteem? It could be depression.

Naw, depression... that was me a couple years ago in public middle school. I'm good now. :D

Depressed...nah. Detached...sure. I live in a hell of my own making. The only release, it seems, is the call of sweet, sweet death. What does it all really matter, anyway. It's all gonna end. And then you're standing there with all your worldly possessions in your hands and wondering while you watch society crumble around you, what the hell did I just do?.........:D

yup i've been pretty detached from most issues/topics of discussion for a while now. occasionally i get a rare flash of interest in something and give a damn, but not often... tho if its some bitch whining about how socialism is "evil" i'll work up the effort to pwn his ass;)

and i have minor depression

In any debate, its good for you to maintain some level of detachment. If your opponent makes you lose your train of thought or forces you to make a verbal mistake induced through anger, you'll likely end up in a worse position. On the flip side, you must appear passionate about your subject. This can sway the audience to your position and can possibly make up for holes in your argument.

But if your simply asking about these forms on NS, I can understand where you are coming from. Most of these topics are not new. And most if not all people have made up their minds about every heated topic prior to arriving here. So while your posts may generate a few expected responses, it's likely that nobody will switch sides in the debate.

Damnit you people, life is not that bad.

I get bored and annoyed with all this tragic angst.

See, this is why people need to get beaten up more. Endorphins are a wonderful thing. :)

So is adrenaline.

I feel detached ocassionaly, and I sometimes question my own point of view, but I'm a teenager, and I'm so busy right now, I assume that it's pretty normal for this stage in my life.

I've felt that way from time to time, although not very much since Vietnam. I suppose I'm just so friggin' happy to be here that it doesn't occur to me to feel any way other than happy. :D
